Tips for Increasing Amazon Sales of Your EBook

Tips for Increasing Amazon Sales of Your EBook

By Laura F Wolf

Many people are trying their hands on Kindle Publishing, and it is a good idea. However, as reported several times, most people earn less than five hundred dollars a month from revenues. There are some simple steps to take in order to increase the sales on a Kindle eBook. These are detailed below.

1. Getting the Word Out
After about 12 hours, your content will be published and you will get an email. You should go immediately and share the link on Facebook, Twitter and other accounts. You might want to place a link to your book on your article directory profiles, press release accounts and other sites. EzineArticles.com allows you to search for your published books on Amazon. Building backlinks through press releases and articles might also work, but it is not necessary.

2. KDP Select?
Many people are raging about this service, and by enrolling your book to Select, you will allow people to rent it for a flat fee of $1.17 for 14 weeks. Most authors cannot see revenue increase at all, so if you want to give it a try, do so. However, there are not many positive aspects of the service. The negative is that you cannot sell your book anywhere else but Amazon for 90 days.

3. Free Promotion?
When you enroll your book for a free promotion, you might get some reviews faster, but you might get targeted by malicious reviewers. Some people actually spend time to sabotage other people's books, just because they have time. They might download it because it is free. Although Amazon says that this way authors can reach a wider audience, you might risk getting reviews that are irrelevant and are originated by people who have no clue about the topic and the problem you are talking about.

4. Getting Reviewed
Do not try to trick Amazon by opening several accounts and reviewing your own product. It will not work. You can, however, reach out for your customers and ask them to review it for you. It is possible to send out a complimentary copy, even if your book is not on free promotion. You can blog about the product and ask people to review it. Your subscribers who click on the link and see that you are giving them a paid product will appreciate the gift.

5. Voting Up
Reviews are based on "helpful" votes, so you might have a hundred positive reviews and one negative: if the negative one has received proportionally more helpful votes, it will be shown first. Therefore, you need to keep an eye on this feature.

6. Fight Review Ninjas (Review Trolls)
There are many authors raging against "review trolls" mentioned before. Some of them might do it for fun, others are paid by the competition. You can fight them by requesting some reviews on Fiverr.com. There are loads of people offering the service, and as trolls do not play by the rules, you do not have to, either. Get a couple of positive reviews and get them voted up. 5-10 "inappropriate" reports would also get rid of the negative review for good, but this might take some time.
