Most Popular Free Android Apps

By Jed Lampi

This list of the most popular free Android apps run the whole gamut, showing the range and the power of free Android apps in general. These apps can really turn your Android phone into a stronger and more helpful device. Surely, you wouldn't want to miss that opportunity? Here are ten of the most popular free Android apps available:

Compass
In a way, it would be very surprising if a run-of-the-mill compass app was on this list. Well, it's not and this Android app is far more than a mere tool to tell you which way is north. To name a few of the features this app brings to the table will be enough to sell most on the idea that it's a practical, handy app to have on their Android phone. Essentially this is a half compass, half GPS Android app. It tells you the direction, but it also tells you the speed at which you're traveling, the exact coordinates of your location and more things that can be used for fun or to potentially save your life if you're trapped somewhere.

Handcent SMS
Do you want to send SMS and MMS messages through your Android phone? Don't get what I'm asking? More simply: do you text? If you do, you need to get Handcent SMS for Android. Basically, it takes your phone to entirely new level and texting dimension. Trust me, when you've used this app for a while, you'll wonder how you lived without it for so long!

Facebook
I really shouldn't have to say a single word about this app. I do feel it's necessary to say that it's the *Official Facebook App for Android*. Enough said!

Ringdroid
Perhaps one of the most hands-on free Android apps, Ringdroid allows you to edit various audio files so you can create your own ringtones and alarms. Tired of editing songs to create your own ringtone? Well, they've thought of that too! You can create ringtones for your Android phone from scratch as well (using the Ringdroid app on your phone).

Places Directory
This Android app does exactly what it sounds like. It allows you to find the nearest gas station, shopping mall, shoe store, movie theater, or even a great place for a burger. It is simple to use yet very efficient and effective: a must-have Android application!

Backgrounds
Do you want to keep your phone looking new and fresh every so often? Get Backgrounds, one of the most popular free Android apps that has more than 10,000 wallpapers for free. With this app, your phone will never look drab again.

Google Sky Map
Probably not the most useful on this list, but it's definitely one of the most interesting. The Google Sky Map is exactly that: a planetarium right inside your Android phone. What's more? No need to say more than it's a Google program!

Astro File Manager
You wouldn't know it from this app's name, but Astro File Manager is among the top most popular free Android apps. It is a task manager and among Android's best one at that. You will be able to manage files, read and open.zip files, send files, backup applications and much more with this amazing app.

Barcode Scanner
Perhaps one of the most ingenious free Android apps on this list, this bar code scanner app lets you access prices, reviews, and other related files by scanning the barcodes on various items in stores and elsewhere. Most importantly for Android phone users, it will easily decode the QR Codes attached to Android apps that you find all over many of the Android websites online. Just download this free app, click the icon and take a quick snapshot of an app's QR Code. Next thing you know, you'll be at the Android Market again, but this time at that app's info and download page!

Shazam
Everyone loves music; well most of us love it. I'm guessing if you haven't heard of Shazam and what it does by now, you're probably part of the minority. If that's the case, this app will nearly instantly identify songs playing, even in noisy environments. That's the core of Shazam, but luckily for all of us, it's spawned into much more than that! You'll just have to download it (for free) to see all of the possibilities!

I own the Android Apps Finder site where you can find every Android app.

The main goal of the site is to provide everyone an easy way to read about all of the Android apps. Along with the apps, there's a great news section that will keep you up-to-date on the Latest Android App News

Tips How to View Private Myspace Profiles

Author: PJ

We all notice that if you are a MySpace user, you've come across some profiles that you're dying taboo to view but only to catch out that they're set to private. You realize that the simply way to view their profile is to add them as a friend and hope they accept. Unfortunately, nearly of the time they don't know you and they wont accept your friend request. However, I can show you how to view private profiles on MySpace.

I know personally, I've stumbled upon a profile of someone I thought I recognized. All I need to do is look into some more pictures on their profile to be sure. But when I try to view their MySpace profile, I find it's set to private. Now I see the only way I can view their pictures is to send a friend request to them. But we all know that this can be tiresome and most of the time not work at all. If their profile is set to private, they'll most potentially not add you as a friend.

Private profiles is a great feature on MySpace, however they can be a real annoying when it comes to finding friends that you haven't seen in a long time, or becoming friends with someone that you think look cool.

Fortunately, I came across a site recently in some dark corner of the internet. On this site, you can enter the MySpace user ID and it will return with every picture that user uploaded on their profile, without having to send a friend request or gain access to their private MySpace profile. This is the greatest tool i've found in a long time. Now for all of that have wondered, here is a new way to view Private MySpace profiles. There, you'll find how to view private MySpace profiles.

Since there has been growing tendencies of violation of privacy, it would be very relevant to make sure that data and information are protected for larger benefits for consumer and clients. Moreover, incorporating high standards of security for organization's IT infrastructure is the need of the hour.

In order to learn vulnerabilities and weakness of the IT infrastructure installed in one's organization penetration testing service will proved to be worth mentioning. Similarly, for mobile application security, penetration testing services will be viable asset.

Mobile application security is considered to be a major form of software development network in the entire world. It would be important to note that almost all the IT companies are encompassed with the feature of mobile application development. Installation of penetration testing services is in great demand for its significance as a test for a strong IT solution.

A need to maintain proper mobile application security is always emphasized by the experts that lead to gain benefits for the companies in various aspects. Question may be raised on the benefits to be gained. The first and foremost advantage for installation of testing services is identification of the threats to the information, an asset of a company.

In order to strengthen security systems, identification of the vulnerabilities are essential. To heal the possibility of threat, security experts dealing in the mobile application security are introducing penetration testing services. It is a fact that good results are coming out.

Mobile app security is the hot topic among the IT professionals with huge growth in the mobile ecosystem. There is growing consensus on reducing the cost on IT security that is surely possible with the use of penetration testing services. Companies specialized in the mobile app security system will check the possible measures to find out the potential threats. This reduces the cost as individual servers are not verified frequently to know the possible exposure of security risks.

Many security parameters are followed to trim down the possible threats. This include robust registration and activation process, enabling user authentication, use of strong pass codes and implementation of account lockout. Beside these security measures, enterprises are advised to avoid storing sensitive data on the device, avoidance of insecurely passing on sensitive user data over wifi networks and use of platform security risk.

Use of security application for mobile and tablets prevents possibilities form certain vulnerabilities to both the enterprise and device itself. Hackers are discouraged through a strong application that is designed properly.

5 Reasons Why Every Business Needs A GPS Tracker

5 Reasons Why Every Business Needs A GPS Tracker

By Kelly Elmore

A powerful GPS tracker can help all kinds of busy businesses and organisations in many different ways. The satellite navigation system known as the Global Positioning System effectively allows every object on the face of the planet to be identified, located and tracked. This has incredible implications for everyone, not least for companies involved with transportation, deliveries and removals.

Any business that makes use of a vehicle or a fleet of vehicles can greatly benefit through the use of such valuable devices.

1. A GPS tracker can effectively reduce a company's expenditure on fuel bills. By carefully plotting the most efficient of routes from any given starting point to a client's location unnecessary diversions or delays can be taken out.

2. A driver correctly trained in correct road conduct will become aware that a careful and considered approach to the open road is far safer than an aggressive, acceleration reliant driving style. As well as being generally safer for the individual - and all other road users - it will reduce the risk of needing to pay out for repair work caused by traffic accidents. In this way, making use of a sophisticated tracking system can greatly improve employee safety and make further savings.

3. In this day and age every modern and forward looking business should be doing everything that they can for the environment. Green issues are a constant source of debate but one thing that everyone can agree upon is the vital need for drivers to measure how much fuel they consume and make attempts to minimise it. A GPS tracker can help with this by making it far easier for companies to plot the most direct route to a client. This will remove any risk of being on the road longer than necessary, meaning that only fuel actively needed is consumed.

4. A client's confidence in a working assignment and a company team's ability to organise it should be at the front of every manager's mind. By having the knowledge of exactly where each and every company vehicle is and how far they are from any particular destination, a customer service team can constantly update a client on the job's progression. In this way a tracking system can make all the difference in putting across a clear and confident approach.

5. Every business involved with transportation succeeds or fails depending on how well and how quickly they manage to get things done. A GPS tracker can speed up the working processes by organising every aspect to the maximum degree. Constant communication and knowledge of exact locations allow things to be completed quickly, thoroughly and accurately.

2013 Is the Year to Join a Mobile App Reseller Program

By Bill Holton

In 2012, the growth of the mobile market was huge throughout the globe and is still constantly reshaping how we interact in our everyday lives. In 2011, there were 835 million smartphone users, 5.6 billion feature phone users (via Business Insider). If you are a retailer who sells products or services via the web you should not be hiding from the mobile revolution. It is your responsibility to stay ahead of future developments. It is now time to shift over into the new era of marketing. It's time to be mobile.
Approximately 50% of all mobile searches are local. In 2013, the massively growing percentage of mobile web users may actually overtake the already small fraction of desktop web users. In 2011 mobile ad revenue was zero, in 2012 it had risen to almost 340 million USD. Given this rise does not slow down, 2013 will see almost triple that amount.
Facebook is a living testament to this shift in importance. The need to monetize mobile traffic will dominate Google, Facebook, Twitter and others in 2013. The trick is to do it as soon as possible on account of the decline in the growth of desktop-based traffic. To maintain a successful mobile marketing campaign you need to focus on user-benefits acquired from monetization strategies. Since mobile is not search-centric it needs to discover a more animated form of monetization. There are several centers to be considered - messaging, communications, news, media capture and sharing, entertainment and games. These are all very different and will require unique and innovative means of developing relationships between users and advertisers. Travel-related searches are also huge in the situation of mobile usage. This is primarily focussed on hotel searches. You tend to use your smartphone whenever you are on the road and need web access. In fact, bookings from smartphones are usually made for the same day.
The reality is that there is an abundance of money to be made from mobile marketing. Joining a mobile app reseller program is a great way to cash in on the latest boom. Apple makes loads of money from their handsets as well as their App Store. Carriers make money from data plans. M-commerce players are also poised to make much more money in 2013. Mobile marketers are therefore forced to either innovate their mobile marketing strategies or be left behind. Users love the ability to engage with the things they like, love, and admire, and even those they hate and detest, in a personal mobile space. Apps that feed or empower this intimacy will survive.
Every human being on the planet has intimate tastes and relationships they cherish. This is also true as it relates to people, brands, products and businesses. Billions of smartphones by the end of 2013 makes for a very large opportunity to allow users to become the boss, and for brands to enter into better relationships with the customers who love them. This year, mobile is the perfect platform for the dream of one-to-one marketing to finally flourish.

10 Features That Make Android Better Than iPhone

By Nancy P White

There once was a time when iPhones looked like they had absolutely no competition in terms of features and design, but not anymore! Android may have been a late entrant to the smart phone market when the first model appeared in Q4 of 2008, but over the past four years, Google has been working with manufacturing partners such as Samsung, HTC, Motorola and others to bring out devices that sometimes outshine Apple's iPhone in terms of features and design.
While Apple fans have always been snobbish about owning the best smart phones in the world, here are 10 features, which may make them change their opinion (at least gradually).
1. Storage Capacity
The maximum storage capacity that an iPhone has is 64GB. On the other hand, android devices have the option of expandable storage. For instance, the Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with options of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB internal memory, which can be further expanded by 32GB with a micro-SD card.
2. Easier app policy
While Apple fans rave about the stringent app controls that ensure only the best iPhone apps make it to App Store, the fact is that it makes it extremely difficult for iPhone app programmers. In comparison, Google allows anyone to publish apps on the Play store, as long as they follow the policy guidelines. This greatly simplifies the process for programmers and drastically cuts down the time to market in the development process.
3. Customized browser, apps and email client
iPhones come preloaded with default apps for email and browsing, while android gives users the option of downloading any browser or email app. In fact, unlike the built-in keyboard on iOS devices, android users have the choice of downloading keyboard apps that provide several options for on-screen keyboards, which enhance user experience.
4. Access to other app stores
Although Google has its own app store - Google Play, it also allows users to download apps from alternative app stores such as Amazon and Opera, to name a few.
5. More choice of devices
While the iPhone has only one new model and several older versions, android users have a wide range of devices to choose from since there are multiple manufacturers such as Samsung, HTC, Motorola and Sony Ericsson. From screen size and pricing to the weight of the device, there's certainly more than one option!
6. Better Maps
When it was launched, iPhone 5 did not support Google Maps but had Apple's own map app, which was disappointing in comparison. There's no denying that Google Maps is the best mapping app around, and although Apple has reintroduced the Google Map app, users say there are still some issues with app support.
7. Standard cables and connectors
All android devices come with standard cables and connectors with which you can easily connect to your laptop or other media. Even if you lose or misplace a cable or connector for your android device, it's easy to replace as they are standardized unlike the iPhone's lightning connector, which doesn't plug into older devices and docks.
8. Widgets
Android devices come with widgets, which speed up information access a great deal. Popular android widgets such as Clock & Weather, Business Calendar and Google Reader make it much easier to browse through information quickly. The iPhone does not support customized since it does not support Flash (which most widgets are based on).
9. NFC
Apple is still in the process of providing NFC support to iPhones. In all probability, it will come with the iPhone 6 in late 2013. Android users are way ahead in this aspect as the platform supports NFC not just for payments but also for sharing contacts, photos, videos and files by just tapping phones against each other.
10. Google Services
With everything accessible through the cloud, Google's storage support and cloud access services are far superior to Apple's. Google Drive allows android users to sync information easily. The iCloud services on iPhones still have a long way to go in order to catch up with Google's might.
For those who remember the old Avis car rental campaign "We're #2, so we try harder," this seems to have been the android mantra over the past few years. While Apple has rested on its laurels for having the best devices in the world, android manufacturers have truly worked harder at bringing out devices that not only match iOS devices in terms of user expectations, but also outperform them on specs and features. Although iPhone users will never admit that android is better, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Android activations have surged by 57% in 2012. It remains to be seen whether they will finally take the top spot from Apple in 2013.
Nancy is a lead Android App UI designer at TechAhead, she loves to write about latest mobile technologies on her blog. She sees iPhone apps development as a companion rather than a competitor to Android.

Minimize Your IT Expenses With Managed IT Services

Minimize Your IT Expenses With Managed IT Services

By Manvi Raj

In this world, you might be feeling as if you are wastefully spending money on your IT systems without any fruitful results. Companies find it good to take up an IT service plan to manage their IT infrastructure. Of course, outsourcing these services is much better because this helps you to make substantial business savings. Besides this financial reason, managed IT services for business enterprises benefit them in several other ways.

Other benefits of hiring managed IT service providers

Your provider enables you to reduce your real trade costs by making it run more smoothly and efficiently. Plans offering you managed IT services help you to maintain and run your hardware. Sometimes, you might wish to keep a backup copy of your entire data on site so that you don't encounter any fears of losing it. But, the reality is that the supporting hardware runs more efficiently when you outsource it. This even costs you lesser than hiring a full-time or, part-time employee.

Gain profits with your provider

With a managed IT service provider, you can trim your IT operational costs too. It is through outsourcing that you don't need to design and devote a large office space for servers. All of us know that servers are quite unpredictable and require huge amount of maintenance. This outsourcing can be really helpful and effective to keep your office space free and use it for carrying out your major trade functions. In this way, your trade gains profits by hiring this kind of provider.

Managed services help you to save your valuable time

Managed IT service providers enable you to focus on your major trade functions, instead of making you lose your valuable time by working on IT systems and hardware. You can utilize your mental energy to execute much more profitable jobs than making your hardware operate. It is through remote IT support that your IT-related costs and other trade expenses are reduced. Hence, you don't need to spend lots of money unnecessarily.

Say "No" to additional IT expenses with your provider

We know that technology becomes outdated quite fast. Consequently, whatever new you do for carrying out your IT operations with greater amount of efficiency, it won't match up the latest trends in technology. But, with outsourcing, your IT expenses are trimmed. Besides, you don't have to bother about keeping yourself technologically updated.

This way you can save lots of money without worrying about the hardware maintenance and software replacement cycle of your key servers. Your managed IT service provider will be responsible to keep you up to date and you won't have to incur any additional IT expenses too. Invest a little in outsourcing the technical operations of your business to a company outside and get huge sums of money in return to invest them back.

Top Technology Fiasco In 2012

Top Technology Fiasco In 2012

By Shabbir Bhimani

We have reached the end of year 2012. It is good time to rewind the past and have a look at some of the technology launches that created hype. There have been several launches which had a critical impact on the human lives and some expected to be even better. However, some of the launches did not live up to the expectations. This article encompass a list of such fiasco happened in the year 2012.

Apple Maps: It was a complete mess and Apple's top most software architect has to lose his job taking up the responsibility for its failure. Google maps were the default mapping system and Apple wanted to launch its home grown application. The maps missed perfection and accuracy. There were serious flaws in its design. Tim Cook issued an apology and requested the users to use maps of Google and Nokia.

Aakash Tablet 2.0: It had a big fan frenzy crowd when the launch was announced. IIT Rajasthan and Datawind, the manufacturer entered into a tussle over testing the features of the ultra cheap tablet. It further delayed the launch of tablet. It is now said that the first set of tablets will be delivered to the training teachers and not to the students. The product was originally intended to be given away to students. They have to wait for an extended period of time to get hands on experience. Government is not sure about its delivery date to students.

Facebook IPO: Mark Zuckerberg became a celebrity and everyone in this world was literally speaking about the Facebook IPO. The stock price was oversubscribed and created much hype. It was termed as the biggest technology firm IPO process in the history. The company over estimated its performances and had set the share prices. However, it had to shed over 30% of its prices after it got listed due to its lackluster performance.

IOS Malware Detected: Devices from Apple were said to be very safe from viruses and trojans. However, a trojan virus had affected the iOS systems which would aim to steal the user's contacts. The reputation of Apple devices of being free from attacks is hurt.

NFC Technology: Near Field Communication technology promised to change the technology future in 2012. It was intended to use the smart phone devices to make mobile payments. Starbucks accepted this form of payment but most of the smart phone manufacturers failed to implement this technology in their devices.

iPhone 5: iPhone loyalists were very much enthusiastic about the launch of iPhone 5. After much hype, the phone was launched but failed to meet the expectations of the users. Most of the features were the same from its previous version and it just had the enhanced version of some of the software applications. Experts even argued that it will be a waste of money to buy the version 5 as almost every feature of it was available in the previous version.

Juxtaposing Java and C++

Juxtaposing Java and C++

By Steve Tait Graham

If you have been working on C++ for a while and have some basic knowledge about object oriented programming (OOP), then working with Java will be smooth sailing for you. The syntax of Java is quite similar to that of C++ and this makes sense, as Java has been derived from C++ itself. However, surprisingly enough, there are several striking contrasts between the two languages. These differences are intended towards the significant improvisations, and as you comprehend these changes, you will perceive why Java software development is far beneficial than any other OOP language. This article walks you through the noticeable features that set Java apart from C++:

1. Java incorporates three kinds of comments, namely- /* text */, // text and /** documentation */. On the other hand, C++ has only single type of comment, namely- /* comments here */.

2. Enumerations in C++ are primitive in nature. Java enumerations extend as java.lang.Enum

3. In order to provide type-safe containers, Java utilizes generics. C++, on other hand, provides extensive support for generic programming by the means of templates.

4. Garbage collection in Java is automated. It facilitates memory allocation and memory deallocation. In C++, memory management depends upon CLR- destructors, constructors and smart pointers.

5. Java is bounds checked while C++ is not bounds checked.

6. Java compilations run on the Java Virtual Machine (JVM), which makes the Java compilation byte code portable with all major processors and operating systems. On other hand, C++ runs on the same platform on which it is compiled, and thus is non-portable.

7. Compilation in C++ involves a phase called preprocessors. At this stage, the definitions are stored in the header files which are complementary to the original source code files. Java compilation doesn't involve any preprocessor phase. It doesn't make use of the header files either. Class definitions in Java compiler are built directly from the source code files.

8. In C++, dynamic data structures are created and maintained using pointers. This method is compelling, yet can be intricate at times. It can cause bugs in the system as an unguarded access is available to the memory. In Java, the entire process of maintaining data structures is much simplified. Java uses references, which do not allow any unauthorized access to the application memory. This makes the application reliable and secure.

9. C++ encourages multiple inheritances whereas Java doesn't support multiple inheritances directly. To achieve multiple inheritance functionality in Java you need to rely upon interface implementation.

On a whole, Java is more robust and scalable as compared to C++ for the following reasons:

All array accesses in Java are analyzed for violation of bounds.
Object handles are always initialized to null.
Exception handling in Java is relatively error-free and clean.
Memory loss is preventable, thanks to automated garbage collection.
Multithreading is backed with simple language support.
Regular check is maintained on handles and exceptions are passed on for failures.

The contrasts within Java and C++ are definitely noteworthy, but Java clearly surpasses C++ with its robust and scalable user-friendly features.

Steve Graham is a Java expert who has industry expertise in Java Software development and Hire Java Developers. He is currently supervising Enterprise Java development projects as a senior developer at Xicom Technologies ltd, an offshore software development company.

Advantages of Facebook Ads Over Google AdWords

Advantages of Facebook Ads Over Google AdWords

By Adam Ada

First of all, I would like to mention that comparing Facebook Ads with Google AdWords is not really appropriate. Google is a search engine and Facebook is a social networking site. The intent and engagement levels of the audience are completely different for both the sites. In Google people actively search for information and products and on Facebook they are looking to connect with their friends. Keeping these points in mind, I would like to give a brief summary of what advantages do Facebook Ads have over Google AdWords;

Usually Much Cheaper (specially for Small Businesses)

Google AdWords is quite expensive even if you bid on low or medium popularity keywords (and especially keywords related to buying online). Facebook is a new system wanting to jump into paid advertisement. If you hit the right niches, you can get traffic for a fraction of PPC pricing. Facebook ads are much more cost-effective and very good for small businesses trying to gain a presence online without a big budget.

Advantage of using Images/Photos in ads

Visual aid will be provided to your ad through this feature. An image is worth a thousand words and the ability to show images in ads is a huge advantage Facebook has over Google AdWords. You can use images in Google AdWords by creating your own image banners but they don't convert too well. In Facebook ads, it is easy to upload a small image along with your text, which helps drawing attention of your target user. It is also good if you want to show images of your brand or product. I believe this is the most powerful feature of Facebook ads.

More flexibility

Facebook ad descriptions can be up to 135 characters long (versus 75 at Google AdWords). More space for creativity. In Google AdWords you can't use exclamation marks (!) while Facebook allows you to use it, this creating more effect in the ad. Restrictions are also less when it comes using many different words (copyright issues) in Facebook. On the whole, setting up an ad campaign on Facebook is much less frustrating.

Highly Targeted Demographics/Keywords

Facebook advertising helps you target keywords and demographic much better. AdWords doesn't know as much about user searching (apart from their cookies and previous searches). Facebook has an advantage of getting more information about the user because we login to our profiles first and then see the ads, so you can be sure that your ads are shown to people with profiles that contain your targeted keywords and demographics. Facebook provides the following 11 targeting factors for advertisers;

Location
Age
Birthday - this one is more recent. Try wishing a user happy birthday and offer them something special
Sex
Keywords - these are based on a user's profile information including activities, TV shows, Movies, Favorite Books. Even job titles are included n this field.
Languages
Interested in
Education
Workplaces
Relationship
Connections - to avoid showing ads to people who have already joined a group or become a fan of a page etc.

Take advantage of these targeting factors, because if you're not then you're missing out on the huge advertising potential of Facebook. Increase targeting to make an advertisement more relevant.

Facebook advertising does have some troubles such as there is no conversion tracking option and undoubtedly AdWords is great for this. Also, there is no ability to show ads at a particular time of the day. Business-to-business advertising also becomes less likely on Facebook (keeping the friends' social networking concept in mind).

If you are using Google AdWords or any other paid search platform, it will be a great idea to try Facebook ads. You will be surprised by the outcome and scope.

Computer Internet Security - 10 Key Questions to Ask Before Buying Internet Security Software

Computer Internet Security - 10 Key Questions to Ask Before Buying Internet Security Software

By Barry Kareful

Congratulations on making a very wise decision regarding your personal computer internet security with respect to buying antivirus software. Now that you are ready to take the plunge and spend some money on internet security products such as antivirus software, it is important to understand exactly what this protective software does. Basically antivirus software has three goals:

  • To prevent a virus infection from reaching your computer/network system before any damage can be done. The antivirus software has a database containing the virus identification (called signatures) of all known viruses (at the time the software was created), and this can run into thousands of signatures. When you download information to your computer or network from an outside source, be it the Internet or a disk, the antivirus program scans the incoming information for any of the virus signatures that are in its database. If a virus is identified, you are notified, before the downloaded information is allowed entry into your computer or network.
  • Provides a first line of defence against incoming virus threats, if the software is installed on a computer network, so that the network administrator has time to take action to stop the virus from entering the system, or if already there, keep it from spreading and then disinfect (clean) any parts of the network that have been corrupted by the virus.
  • To take the necessary steps to clean and repair your computer and/or network by either eliminating the infection and repairing damaged files or moving the corrupted files to a safe or quarantine area so that no further damage can be done by the virus.
Understanding what an internet security system should do is only one part of the journey. It is also very important to be able to make an informed decision as to the best internet security software that will meet your requirements from the many security products currently available.

Here are 10 key questions to ask about any computer internet security you may be planning to purchase.

  1. Given the fact that the computer industry experts claim that there are between 1 to 500 new viruses appearing daily, you need to ask how many different viruses the internet security software can detect.
  2. As noted in the first question, with the huge number of viruses appearing, ask how often you will be sent updates to the antivirus program database to ensure that your protection is up to date.
  3. Ask how easy it is to get the updated information about new viruses.
  4. Does the antivirus software have the ability to detect unusual or suspicious activity in your computer or network that may be the work of an unidentified virus?
  5. If purchasing the internet security system for use on a server, then can the antivirus program detect virus threats in compressed files?
  6. How stable is the virus alarm system, as you do not want to be flooded with virus alerts that turn out to be false?
  7. Ask how the internet security system notifies you of an impending virus threat.
  8. Are there any custom settings available in the computer internet security program that would allow you to quickly scan certain parts of your hard drive files and directories which may be more prone to virus infections?
  9. Is there a scanning log to inform you what was detected, what was done to the infected files and what if anything more you need to do?
  10. What effect does installing and running the computer internet security software have on your computer and/or network operating speeds? (Some brands of security software may not be advisable for slower Internet connection speeds or even allowed by the Internet Service Provider due to their drain on the system.)
I sincerely hope that using the questions provided above as your buying guide will help you to make an informed decision about the best security for your computing needs when looking at the many different internet security software reviews and products.

How to Take Good Care Of Your Electronics

How to Take Good Care Of Your Electronics

By Olushola George Otenaike

If you really want to enjoy your electronics like MP3 players, camcorders, tablet PCs, smartphones and so on, you must take good care of them. Your world is not complete without them but they need special attention from you so that they can work effectively. Even though they cannot fight for their rights to proper use, without adequately allowing them to enjoy these rights, you won't get the best from them. Take note of these tips and get the best from your gadgets.

Use a cover: For electronic devices that are stationary, putting covers on them is ideal when they are not in use. This prevents dust from gaining access into their control panels and cause damages to them. Movable devices like laptops and tablets can also make use of covers. These covers are specially designed to reduce direct contacts with their screens and keyboards thereby making them last longer. These covers will also reduce scratches that may arise through handling.

Use a case: Your devices deserve some respect, hence, get nice cases for them. By so doing, you are doing yourself, and not the devices alone, a great favor. For example, your smartphone or iPad can accidentally fall down at any time and if you don't put it in a case, a serious damage might be done to it. But if you protect it by putting it in a case, you will not need to worry about any accidental damage. In addition, for those of us with kids, it is very important to put our devices in protective cases. Today's kids are very smart (even smarter than the smartphones) and you can never tell what will happen at any point in time.

One day, I forgot my smartphone in the living room while taking my bath. The phone rang and my two-year-old boy decided to help me out so that I won't miss the call (as a businessman, my kids know how calls are important to me). He picked the phone with the intention of bringing it to me in the bathroom. Then suddenly, the phone fell down and there was no protective case around it. Guess what happened? End of the story! Take note the phone could fall down in my own hands too (which happens many times) but the point I'm driving at is that if the phone had gotten a protective case that day, it wouldn't have damaged even after falling down.

Keep them away from water: If you will be going to the beach or pool, or you want to cook and will be using the sink, it is advisable to keep your electronics away from water. If water gets into the components of your devices, it can ruin them and if it is compulsory that you must take them along to these activities, endeavor to keep them in a water-tight box so that they will be protected from water splashes.

How Economical Is the Samsung SF 650 Printer and Toner?

How Economical Is the Samsung SF 650 Printer and Toner?

By Paul A Buchanan

Whether you are a business owner or just using a printer for personal use it is always good to feel you are saving money and energy whilst getting the most productivity as possible. Printers can be an integral part of a busy office environment especially when on an intricate network or for heavy duty work. The amount of time, resources and money saved is definitely a deciding factor when choosing a printer model and it is important to review and learn about as many options as possible to make the best decision for you or your business.

The Samsung SF 650 is a multifunctional printer. This means it has more than one use on its hands. The features of this printer are printing, copying, faxing and scanning. This can save a great deal of money as it prevents an owner having to purchase all these items individually.

There are money and energy saving aspects to some of the individual functions of the machine. The fax machine has a clever mode called delay send mode. This mode stores documents in the memory and allows you to send them during a predefined time period when call charges are lower. This can make significant savings on your phone bill.

The printer is also economical as it has different toner options to suit your budget. For example, high yield toners are available for heavy use which gives you lower cost per page.

Other specifications for this printer include a 19 black and white pages per minute print speed and a maximum resolution of 600 dots per inch. This is perhaps slightly lower than some of the competitors but a high enough quality for most professional work, especially standard text documents which are often the most common anyway.

The copy resolution for this product is 600 x 300 and mirrors the speed of the printing. Faster copying and printing can reduce the usage of power as the device can be turned on for a shorter period of time.

This model is also uses space economically. It is much smaller than a lot of bulky office printers and can be a part of a desk station in a small office, leaving ample room for other important items.

Overall the Samsung SF 650 is a good option to save money on multiple devices and wasteful ink. It maintains its quality whilst giving more options and saving on space.

Do You Think Getting Free Electricity For Your Home is Possible?

Do You Think Getting Free Electricity For Your Home is Possible?

By Kerry Harnetiaux

Is free electricity for your home a myth?

Not really. You will have a small investment but after you have made the initial expense it will be free after. This is technology that has been around for a long time. It has been tested but has not been made public.

If you want free electricity for your home you can do some research and find a way. One of the most popular methods involves magnets. Using the pull of the magnets will rotate a motor that produces the electricity. This is one of the cheapest ways to make electricity.

Some of the other ways will require your to build solar panels or wind turbines. Both of these methods can be great. The problem with these two methods are that the weather is a major factor in the results you will get.

Getting free electricity for your home will mean substantial savings. You will be able to save the monthly expense. This means you can use that money for something else. What a wonderful idea to be able to use the monthly $100 - $300 for something besides necessities.

If you research the history of electricity you will find a lot of information that wasn't taught to us in school. At least I didn't know about some of this stuff. I had no idea who Nikola Tesla was. I didn't realize that George Westinghouse, the head of Westinghouse Electric Company, bought a patent that Tesla invented. Just understanding that will open a whole new concept of what took place with this technology.

Free electricity for your home is possible if you keep an open mind and investigate the methods available.

If you want to learn in layman terms how to build your own electric for around a hundred dollars check out this site: [http://wiseenergy.us]

Why is the government is not really pleased that we have this information? If you are interested in helping the environment watch the videos on this site.

Cheapest Way to Produce Solar Energy

Cheapest Way to Produce Solar Energy

By Robbie Samuel

As global warming is greatly effecting the earth, people are looking for alternative methods, like using renewable energy, rather than using the traditional methods of using electricity that involves burning tons and tons coal which pollute the air increasingly.

However, the main problem is that installing the system for the solar panel would cost thousands of dollars. You would need to call the technical experts, who need to be paid.

You could even try to build your own solar panel, but this will be quite small and will not be able to give much power at all, not even enough to power your PC.

However, the best way to generate solar power energy for your home is by using a solar panel kit. These kits come with everything you need to build a solar panel, for an extremely low price. The instructions are so easy to follow that even the kids could do it over the weekend as a fun activity.

Not only will you be helping the environment with your solar panel, but you'll be saving around 80% of the money you would be paying to the electricity company. You may even be able to completely eliminate the electricity cost.

One of the main reasons that people use solar panels is because they provide the most amount of renewable energy, for homes and they help people save thousands of dollars each year. This is a good decision to make especially as the economy is on a downturn and it wouldn't hurt having some extra cash around the house.

Many people are enhancing their lifestyles and saving thousands of dollars each year, by switching their methods to Renewable Energy after the finding this page Home Made Renewable Energy [http://www.samuelreviews.com/home-made-renewable-energy.php].

I've personally been able to save lots of money I used to pay the electricity company.

Switching to renewable energy is not as difficult as it seems. It's so simple that you can do it as a family activity over the weekend. It's true that previously setting up solar or wind energy for your house would be expensive, however, now it can be down at a very low cost. It's a good investment considering you'll save thousands of dollars you would pay for electricity bills every year.

Mobile Technologies In Healthcare

Mobile Technologies In Healthcare

By Bansi S Raja

The union of mobile technologies and applications is a growing opportunity for healthcare. There is no denying the innate factor of modern mobile technology. Morgan Stanley Research reports that mobile Internet usage is growing faster than desktop Internet usage, and will reach parity in late 2013. The basis for this expansion in mobile Internet usage may seem evident at first. Among computing technologies, mobile computing devices are typically only an arm's reach away, making them easy to get to and extremely handy. The abundance of specialized downloadable applications, often available at low or no cost, increases the efficacy of devices over time.

Mobile technologies have colossal potential as an apparatus to promote healthy behavioral transformation, to enhance the caregiver-patient relationship, and to modernize the way healthcare is delivered in various countries around the globe. In fact, mobile technologies are already being used to promote lifestyle changes, encourage patients' active involvement in their treatment and reduce waiting times in doctors' offices, with the goal of improving healthcare outcomes.

Pharmacies can also gain several benefits from the emerging trends of mobile technologies. Drug stores are initiating various services that can be made available through mobile technology by launching their respective mobile applications. Being registered with the mobile application of a drug store would allow you to access the history of your prescriptions, research on the drug prices, refill your prescriptions, place requests for new prescriptions and also check the status of your order. They also facilitate payment for your prescriptions through the application. This does not only enable the customer to take care of his health in an easier manner but also simplifies the internal transactions within the pharmacy and enables them to serve the customers better, leading to an increased customer satisfaction.

Few years ago, this would have sounded more like science fiction but today it stands as a reality that has changed the way people perceive healthcare. Mobile technology has brought a revolution into the lives of those patients who were forced to visit their doctors' everyday by skipping a few important meetings. We now have mobile applications that record your daily blood pressure and other data and directly send it to your doctor's or physician's smartphone. It allows your doctor to have a daily check on your physical fitness while you absorb yourself in those important meetings that you otherwise had to skip. This technology also gives the patients a peace of mind as their doctors can monitor their condition on a daily basis.

Moreover, the power of mobile technologies is now assisting people to transform their mobile applications into personal fitness trainers that give them daily workout plans and instruct them on when to warm up, run, jog and relax. It acts as a peer support which is a key component to any behavioral change program. Such applications are transforming their fitness goals into wonderful actions that give results.

However, there are known challenges in developing mobile technologies. It involves conducting research with end-users, understanding their psychology and then designing applications that overcome their challenges by providing solutions that enable them to remain fit. Mobile technology is a part of the thread that connects patients, care providers and individuals in several ways while also having access to endless information to promote wellness and good health. For today's innovators - mobile is not just a part of the thread, it is their cornerstone!

Get Hands-On Experience With the New Microsoft Office 2013

By Herry Willson

Microsoft Office 2013 is the latest office productivity suite from Microsoft and a successor to Office 2010, which will be available with the Windows 8 operating system. This version has evolved with numerous improvements over earlier versions of the Microsoft Office package. It offers a Metro-UI, the default interface on Windows Phone 8 and the Windows 8 operating system. Office 2013 is also called Office 15 where '15' denotes the version number and not the year of release.

Unlike previous versions, Office 2013 introduces many significant changes. The Metro interface not only gives you a touch-centric user experience but also provides improved communication with external software applications. The suite offers seamless integration with Cloud technology, which helps you store your personal data on the Cloud for easy access and safe retrieval.

Software applications within the Office suite have undergone some major improvements. The new Outlook has improved scheduled task and calendars. PowerPoint has added new templates and effects for easy and more effective presentations. New Excel has added many added attributes like Roman to Arabic number conversion, advanced data filters, etc. Word has improved capabilities like online audio and video insertion, support for PDF editing, ODF read and writes, and many more.

Windows 8 Support

Windows 8, the latest OS from Microsoft (set to be launched October this year), supports this version of Office. While the suite is also compatible with Windows 7, users can get a pleasing touch experience with this product running on a Windows 8 tablet or touch-screen computer.

Metro Interface

Office 2013 presents a UI that's beautiful, cleaner and less cluttered, much more as a Metro based application than the desktop version. It features a full-screen mode, and is very different from traditional applications.

SkyDrive

Microsoft integrates cloud storage facility with the latest release -Office 2013. This is made possible with their online storage and sharing service called SkyDrive. When a user saves his/her files, it automatically gets stored on the cloud and can be synced with another computer using the online SkyDrive account. It has the capability to sync with system files, but file location can be changed. Synced data files can be fetched from any device you want, a PC, a Tablet or a Smartphone.

Resumed Reading

Office 2013 bundles a host of applications, among which Word and PowerPoint are most popular. When you re-open any Word or PowerPoint file, you can retrieve the last state you left the application in, before shutting. This is because Office 2013 automatically bookmarks the most recent state of major applications and lets you access the same anytime later.

Online Account integration

This software application harnesses the power of the Cloud for easy online activities, offering to save all concerned documents on an online storage media. The popular SkyDrive, on which Office 2013 documents are stored directly, is an online storage service. Users can associate their Microsoft account with SkyDrive to get access to their files anywhere and anytime.

Contact online experts for Office 2013 help and resolution of any issues.

The Ribbon

Ribbon includes a group of toolbars organized in a pretty way and design. In accordance with the minimalistic Metro look, the ribbon is present but hidden by default, for a clean look and feel. The World of Microbiology: Introduction to Bordetella Pertussis

The World of Microbiology: Introduction to Bordetella Pertussis

By Kooolabhi Gupta

Study of small organisms has revealed a lot about diseases and what causes them. Before the discovery of microorganisms, little was known about diseases caused by these tiny living beings. Now that they have been discovered, things are picking up. Microbiology is one of the most fascinating and dynamic branches of biological science and it is going to develop much more in the coming years. It is believed that more microorganisms will be discovered in the coming future but those known to man are making a huge difference. Bordetella Pertussis is one such bacterium that causes a highly infectious disease. Without the knowledge of this bacterium and its characteristics, it would have been impossible to find a cure.

It all started with the discovery of the microscope. The fact that microorganisms exist and alter our lives gave science a new field to experiment with. Who would have thought that whopping cough or pertussis could be because of an invisible bacterium called bordetella pertussis before? Now we know that bordetella pertussis thrives on blood and grows only on humans. Also, we have taken this information further to identify the symptoms, invent a vaccine and treat the disease. Bordetella pertussis is also being used by microbiologists in order to produce an injection which would prevent the disease from spreading in the body. This is what microbiology teaches us:

  1. study the organism,
  2. observe their nature
  3. use them for the benefit of the mankind

If there are microorganisms that cause diseases, there are some who help to sustain life. Some of these tiny beings have medical capabilities; they help in labs, agriculture and engineering and in everyday life as well. For those who may not be aware of this, yoghurt and bread are made due to activity of such useful microorganisms. They have been an integral part of various fields in biology and assisted to understand mother Earth much better. Also, being a part of the nature, they help to maintain a balance on the planet. Today, one can't even imagine a life without microorganisms because they are inevitable for our survival.

The more we know about them, the better it would be for us. They may be small and invisible to the naked eyes but they are all around us. Some of these cause diseases while others help in curing them. And then there are those who are still hidden but would make a great difference in our world when uncovered.

Microbiology is a vast subject which requires attention to detail. If you are new to the science of tiny living organisms, start with the basics. Visit Bio Ultra to read more on microbiology and topics related to it. For more information check out Bordetella Pertussis

3D Printing For Inventors

3D Printing For Inventors

By Chris Waldo

3D printing has the power to truly change the way in which we look at things in multiple industries. There are so many possibilities as to what can be manufactured through this technology. Let's not even cover the whole "industries" thing, but how 3D printing can help people out on an individual level. Let's say that you have a good idea, and you want to see it come into existence. Well, 3D printing is the way to go! Let me tell you how.

Let's say that you want to be an inventor. You have a pretty cool idea, or even a few ideas that you want to implement. In order to do that, there are a couple things that you need. First off, you need to have a rough idea of what you're going to do before your ide could take off, of course. This means that you should create some sketches, writings, and designs, whatever. If you have experience of designing on the computer with various 3D softwares, you will then need to design it. Well, perhaps you don't have the experience needed to take care of that kind of thing, but you still have a good idea, and you really want to see your idea come to life. What can you do then?

Well, there are plenty of designers out there for hire. There are always going to be people working on the computer who could take care of your project with you, it'd just cost a little bit of money. So after you have a basic idea of what you're doing, and you have a design, what's next? With 3D printing, you can create pretty much anything once you have an actual design on the computer. In order to 3D print an item, you will need to have the design. So after you have the design, you will then send it to one of two places. The design will be sent to your own printer, or more likely, a printing service company.

These companies will have a variety of different machines in most situations, and they will be able to take care of your order. When the printing facility has access to your design, you're going to be set! These facilities are going to take care of the entire manufacturing process, and you'll just have to wait. 3D printing can be pretty darn fast. Some prints will be taken care of within minutes. Usually within a few hours. After the design has been placed within the printer, it will be manufactured. When the piece is manufactured, many types of 3D printing require a little bit of after touching by a technician. Perhaps the model will need to be de-powdered, put in a large furnace, or cleaned up! Once the after touching has been taken care of, there isn't much else! The printing facility will then send you the printed piece, and you'll have your final part! 3D printing is relatively simple once you have a design. Simply send your model to a 3d printing facility, and they will take care of it. If you're really interested in 3D printing, buy your own printer and create products whenever you feel like it. 3D printing isn't too difficult after all, huh?
