Top Five Teams To Win 2014 FIFA World Cup

By Pooja Kamboj

Although it might be too early to speak about the possible threats to the defending champions Spain, but let us discuss about the possible teams who could lay their hands on the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Brazil, known to be the paradise for football, is all set to host the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Let us discuss about the teams who would be the potential challengers for the 2014 World Cup and also speak about the defending Champions Spain, who have been winning each and every single thing in the past.
Brazil: The 5 times World Champions would be looking for their 6th World Cup Glory when they host the 2014 World Cup, having the home advantage on their side. However, a team like Brazil does not require an added advantage like this to win anything major. They can win it anywhere and everywhere, but with millions of Brazil hearts cheering for them, the Brazilians seem to be the most dangerous side this time around. With Upcoming future like Neymar and Pato, Brazil look more composed and would surely see themselves in the latter stages of the tournament. Brazil should surely make it to the last four in the tournament and it would be quite a disappointment if the Brazilians fail to at least make it to the Semi-Finals stage.
Spain: At the moment, one can call them the 'UNSTOPPABLE'. The only thing they know at present is to win and they are doing it on a regular basis, time and time again. They won the Euro Cup, then the World Cup and then the U-21 European Championship. Others were just mere spectators as they grabbed everything that occurred; be it a friendly match or a major tournament like the World Cup and the Euro Cup. By far, the stand out performers in the past 3-4 years. They have the perfect mix of players which a team requires to win any major tournament. Players like Villa, Sergio Ramos, Casillias, and Iniesta etc. makes the Spaniards the favourites to retain the World Cup.
England: Well it is indeed hard to say but the England team has been the biggest disappointment in the recent past, despite being rated as one of the strongest team in the world with only quality players filled in. Having the likes of Ferdinand, Terry, Lampard, Gerrard, Beckham and many more greats, England have failed to achieve anything out of such an extremely talented team. Every single player in the side is regarded as the best when playing club football, but when you talk about playing together, they just fail to showcase the same. Young sensations like Wilshere and Caroll have stepped in, which might turn the tables for the English Side this time. But the people and fans are starting to lose confidence in the side as they have failed on several occasions despite being blessed with one of the most prolific and composed squad ever. Despite the recent poor showing by the English team, yet one can put their money on England to be the top contenders for the 2014 World Cup, with some real magic like talents breaking into the team.
Argentina: Yes! They have Lionel Messi. Yes! They have Carlos Tevez too, the two known to be the most dangerous players across the world of Football. Who doesn't know what Messi does for Barcelona and Tevez have done for United and is doing for City. Both can be defined similar to Michael Jackson's song as 'Dangerous'. But again, all the heights are achieved at club level. There is no doubt about Messi's potential, but then when it comes to International matches, the Messi magic just doesn't work the way it does for Barcelona. As a team, Argentina has struggled too in the recent past. Struggling in the qualifiers to make it to the 2010 World Cup, losing friendlies against mediocre teams and even when they win, the win just looks an average and a very hard-fought one. But with the likes of Messi and Tevez in the team, one can never write off the Argentinians. They must surely see themselves in the last four with Messi and Tevez looking in fine touch with a much balanced team than before.
Germany / Portugal: The Germans would surely miss the services of the former Germany Captain; Ballack, who announced his retirement after his fallout with the national team coach. But the kind of performance the Germans showed in the last World Cup was truly outstanding. The Germans has always been the side to watch out for and with the likes of Muller and Ozil and bagging a lot of experience with the current captain, Lahm, the team looks in great touch and should surely be one among the top four at least to challenge Spain.
Talking about the Portuguese side, they have Ronaldo with them, one of the most prolific wingers of all time and his speed was just unmatched. Manchester United winger, Nani too is playing his best football of his career so far. The current Ronaldo-Nani combination can singlehandedly do wonders for the Portuguese.
Although, despite stating the favourites for the coming World Cup, the underdogs like Mexico and Uruguay too can slowly creep up and might snatch the World Cup from the noses of the top favourites. You never know what is in store for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Year 2012 Review of the Top 5 Sports Memories

Year 2012 Review of the Top 5 Sports Memories

By Will C Sesley

As we sift through the trials and tribulations forged by those athletes with selfish ambitions. We also cheer on other athletes with a far more refined discipline and drive to overcome and become triumphant for all the UN-selfish reasoning. Here's what I noticed...

5. The NFL Referees Lockout

Seems so sad but isn't it funny that just about a season earlier the NFL season was again at risk of "no season". The Collective Bargaining Agreement for the NFL Officials that ran out after the 2011 season and neither side wants to negotiate. To not put anything on the table seems too "rehearsed". By that I mean, why not come to the table before the time is up. During the off seasons leading up to or maybe the season/year before the Agreement times out. That sounds like plenty of time to hash out the millions of "fan supported dollars". And again, this is not the players we're talking about here. I'm sure everyone that has a job wants to be paid what they're worth. But at the risk of losing world wide enjoyment? Hmmm...

4. Boxer Hector "Macho" Camacho

As a result from gunshot to face, Hector "Macho" Camacho was declared brain dead on Saturday November 24, 2012. Shot while being a passenger in a car in his hometown of Puerto Rico, Tuesday November 20, 2012. Reasons behind the incident is unknown at this time. He took his fight to the ring as a youth and turned away from the streets, unlike most. He is one of the most memorable boxing athletes of the '80s and '90s. I remember a couple of his fights when I was younger. He gained the most notoriety from knocking out the famous Sugar Ray Leonard and defeating Roberto Duran as well. A boxer of Spanish/Latin descent who rose to the rare heights of winning titles in three weight classes. And endless stories of his generosity. This is the way I choose to remember great athletes. Mr. Camacho you will be sadly missed.

3. New Orleans Saints Bounty Program debacle

A perfect example of "Hey, who snitched"? New Orleans Saints team accused of Bounty Hunting and injuring key players in game play. In the seasons 2009, 2010 and 2011, the goal was to knock a player out the game to collect payment or favors as hinted by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Every player in the league itself, past and present speaking on camera or radio, does not remember this type of participation ever. Which begs the question of who would say anything now if it's gone on for so long. Well, in my time of playing sports on the court/field of contest it's called a "cheap shot". Sometimes done out of frustration for the most part. But are the New Orleans Saints the only team guilty? Are certain players in the NFL guilty of this repeatedly? Is the coach responsible for knowing the actions of all players at all times while in the game? Certainly no one athlete is perfect nor are they all "Saints"...

2. Olympics in London 2012

I wished all the countries athletes that were able to participate in their field of competition, well. You get to train for years and finally your time comes to compete for all the glory in London, England. I actually watched Track & Field events, seeing Mr. Usain Bolt win his races. Watched some of the USA Basketball Team, with no real surprise there. However, the main event my wife and I enjoyed was Gymnastics. Particularly, Gabrielle "Gabby" Douglas stealing the show with her well trained performances. Of which lifted her to the rank of the first African American woman, 16 years old, to win in the all-around individual performances and assisting the USA team long sought after gold as well. I'm always fascinated by athletes focus, balance and coordination at very high levels of competition. Way to go...

1. Meta World Peace - not so peaceful

Well, this one for me tops it all. Ron Artest a.k.a. Meta World Peace, a Los Angeles Lakers forward in a NBA Playoff Game Series April 22, 2012, delivered a elbow strike to the head of Oklahoma City Thunder's guard James Harden. "Mr. Peace" stated that he was over zealous after a scoring a basket by himself, and expressed this joy to Mr. Harden's head. Of which resulted in a concussion for Mr. Harden. Now, as I've stated before, cheap shots come in all contact sports. It happens. And of course, there's no such thing as "Bounty Hunting" in the NBA, right. Mr. Harden is the best sixth man in the league, voted and awarded. So maybe Mr. Peace felt he had to slow that team's momentum down with a new defensive "I'm so excited"strategy. Yeah, that's it! If a team cannot make good substitutions of players because they're unconscious, then the players in the game will tire faster. And though Mr. Peace may be fined and suspended, which he is no stranger to. He can honestly say he "took one for the team," or rather Mr. Harden did...

Sports Participation Leads to Increased Body Esteem in Females

Sports Participation Leads to Increased Body Esteem in Females

By Liz D Davenport

Imagine a 9-year-old girl clad in shin guards and cleats. Her hair's pulled back in a ponytail and she's chasing a soccer ball up and down the field. She's sweating. She's breathing heavily. She's probably even throwing an elbow or two.

However, she's probably not worrying how fat she looks in her shorts.

Despite weight issues pervading the minds of girls as young as six, studies have shown that participation in sports is a mitigating influence on negative body image.

According to a study conducted by the Women's Sports Foundation, female athletes are more likely to have a positive body image, and less likely to consider themselves overweight, than their unathletic peers.

Our Culture of Weight Obsession

In the U.S., weight bias has become as common as prejudices based on sex and race. And it starts young. By the age of five, many children have grasped our society's weight intolerance and incorporated into their own viewpoints.

In a startling example of our daughters' body dysmorphia, a 2006 study by Levina Clark and Marika Tiggemann showed about half of girls between 9-12 rated their own bodies as too heavy, despite the fact only 15 percent of them were actually overweight.

Unfortunately, weight obsession is just the beginning. It can lead to eating disorders, depression, poor self-esteem, and even substance abuse.

Sports Participation Leads to Body Acceptance

Big boobs. Thin waist. Nice legs. Our society evaluates the female body on how sexually attractive men find it.

Sports, however, provide females with another judge and jury. Suddenly, men's sexual gratification isn't the only thing that matters. The female body has become a machine--a tool for optimal sports performance, and a girl who once viewed herself as tall and gawky can achieve body acceptance on the basketball court.

Athletics is the antidote to poor body image.

Girls who participate in three or more sports per year are more likely to have high scores on body-esteem measurements at all grade levels, according to Go Out and Play: Youth Sports in America.

Sports give females more than just an opportunity to view themselves differently. It provides them with a chance to make physical fitness a part of the rest of their lives. Exercise increases metabolism, improves physical conditioning, and as a result, enhances one's overall appearance.

Athletics has become a key link in the chain. Whether it's from developing an enlightened viewpoint or a healthier lifestyle, sports participation can help young girls battle our society's weight obsession.

Sports Illustrated Magazine

By Graeme I Olsen

Although Sports Illustrated is an extremely popular magazine (primarily with a male readership) these days, there were similar magazines called Sports Illustrated which failed before the current incarnation of the magazine that arrives on news stands and in mailboxes across the country. Hard as it may be to believe, sports journalism was once considered beneath other forms of writing. That was before writers like Frank Deford, Robert Creamer and others came along and proved that writing about sports could grab readers and have them debating the pros and cons of various aspects of basketball, football and..yes.. even swimsuit models. Reporting on the Olympic Games was also in demand and some of those covers featuring Olympic athletes have become collector's issues.
Ironically, an early publisher of the magazine, Henry Luce, was not even an avid sports fan. He could probably be called lukewarm (at best). Still, he managed to ignore those who scoffed at the idea of a magazine focused only on sports reporting and photos. His instincts served him in good stead and Sports Illustrated was ready to take off.
Of course, timing is everything. It didn't hurt that television was about to help Americans sit in the comfort of their dens or living or family rooms and watch a baseball or other game. It was a natural move to buy a magazine to read during the commercials and Sports Illustrated filled the bill. If there was any question about a particular batting average, the magazine could be consulted. Besides, it was just plain fun to read - and it only became better through the years.
Sports Illustrated was responsible for many innovations in sports reporting. Their noted "Sportsman of the Year" was popular from the start. Everyone loves a good competition so readers were eager to see who'd grace the cover each year - and why. Winners have accomplished such feats as breaking the four minute mile (Roger Bannister) or some other athletic feat. If the covers are representative of the popularity of specific sports, then Major League Baseball seems to be the most popular sport, followed by Pro Football and Pro Basketball.
It would be impossible to mention the magazine without mentioning the infamous and sometimes controversial swimsuit issue. The first one was published in 1964 and men found photos of supermodels posing in often very skimpy, barely there swimsuits impossible to resist ( a fair share of women bought the swimsuit issues, too, perhaps to see how they measured up in comparison with the models). While the swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated flies off the magazine shelves, there are some readers who write protest letter or even cancel their subscriptions yearly - all because of this issue.
It isn't only athletes or swimsuit models who have graced the cover of Sports Illustrated. Famous celebrities have been used to promote sports. These include Ed Sullivan, Arnold Schwarzenegger and even Big Bird. Sports Illustrated has even spun off a special edition of the magazine for children, Sports Illustrated Kids.
Since sports has its share of controversy and a wide mixture of athletes, there have been some who have been featured in the magazine for sad reasons. Sports Illustrated even has had memorial covers. Ted Williams was featured after he died of a heart attack. Pat Tillman, who played for the Arizona Cardinals, appeared on the cover after he died in Afghanistan.
Even with the advent of sports television stations like ESPN, Sports Illustrated remains popular. Close to 20 percent of American males read it. Articles from the magazine form the basis for spirited debates at parties, work and home. It seems to have become a part of American life.
Graeme Olsen writes for Magazine Central, specializing in magazine subscriptions for popular magazines.

Interview With Sports Illustrated's Ben Reiter

Interview With Sports Illustrated's Ben Reiter

By Nick Hartmann

This past Wednesday Sports Illustrated released their annual NFL previews for all 32 teams. The Browns preview, authored by Ben Reiter provides a nice look into the Mangini run Browns and how the players are reacting to the drastic change in coaching style. I had the pleasure of speaking with Ben yesterday concerning his thoughts on the Browns training camp and outlook for the 2009 season.

Nick Hartmann: How would you grade the moves made by the Browns in the off-season?

Ben Reiter: They didn't do all that much comparatively to some of the other teams out there. For instance they failed to actively address the running situation by sticking with Jamal Lewis. They did manage to add James Davis in the 6th round of the draft and he is quite explosive and tends to play bigger than he is. However, although depth at running back is weak they are still in pretty good shape all things considered with Davis and Harrison who I spotlighted in the preview.

NH: The biggest off-season move was of course the new regime, what is your initial impression of Mangini and Kokinis?

BR: Things have definitely changed in Cleveland with the hiring of Eric Mangini. Everyone knows the rules about running laps for penalties, parking in certain places and having to memorize different sayings and mantras. They players say that they are buying in to the new style and that they are ready for a change. However, it is important to keep in mind that no players are going to tell me or anyone else that they are not buying in or that they do not like the new situation at this point in the season. When your team is 0-0 it is much easier for everyone to get along.

NH: How do you feel Mangini did in New York and what kind of player do you think he has trouble reaching?

BR: I think that Mangini got a bad rap in New York, I mean they were 8-3 at one point and all that anyone remembers is the collapse when Favre began to look 38. He has a very good coaching mind and is better than his reputation from New York. He is very secretive with the media as far as his team is concerned and in person although he doesn't reveal much he is a friendly and soft spoken guy.

As far as players he has trouble reaching I would say he can have trouble with veterans and higher profile or higher paid players. His rigorous, structured style does not always mesh with the those types of players. One of the things Mangini stressed to me was how he had learned the importance of explaining why he is doing things especially regarding his rules to the players.

NH: What is your opinion of the severity of Shaun Rogers' injury and what do you think about his relationship with Eric Mangini?

BR: Not surprisingly I have no extra information on the injury, however, Mangini talks very highly of him as a player and says he is the key to the defense up the middle. Rogers seems to fit the profile of a player that would clash with Mangini due to his success and contract. At the same time, however, there does not seem to be an issue right now despite past reports of Rogers dogging laps and reportedly telling Shaun Smith to go to Detroit because that is where he wants to be. This is one of those situations that we will have to wait and see what happens.

NH: What is your take on the QB race and do you think either one is a franchise QB?

BR: Mangini is trying to be secretive and follow his own modus operandi. However, it is hard for me to believe that making the Vikings prepare for both with provide any real advantage. The real reason could possibly be that he isn't enamored with either one yet. Brady Quinn has to get the first crack because of his sharpness in the preseason and the fact that he has yet to get a real chance. It is way too early to write him off at this point as he needs a full season to show what he can do.

NH: Does Jamal Lewis have anything left in the tank and how likely is it that he could be cut this pre-season?

BR: Jamal Lewis just recently turned 30, which is old for a running back I suppose. If there were more players behind him they would have an easier cut him but they do not have the talent and depth to let Lewis go.

NH: Who on the Browns will surprise people this season, both positively and negatively?

BR: Cribbs as a wide receiver has a chance to be that breakout guy. Watching him at training camp, he has a toughness and aggressiveness to breakout at that position which is key. He is quite motivated to prove he deserves more money. He really buys into the Mangini way and he talks about how once the season starts people will see the Browns out on the field playing like gladiator warriors. Alex Hall is another potential surprise guy as he is still raw but has a huge frame and what it takes to break out for the Browns as a pass rusher.

On the negative side it is tough to say as the Browns lack that high profile type of player to be honest. The only one that might fit would be Shaun Rogers if he has health problems and if his relationship with Mangini begins to break down.

NH: Will the Browns progress in 2009 and how many games do you think they will ultimately win?

BR: I see the Browns as pretty average across the board. There is no area they will get killed in and the only real place they will probably excel is the return game. As far as the win total far be it for me to contradict Peter King. However, I am more optimistic about the Browns in 2009 and see them going 5-11 with wins against Denver, Buffalo, Detroit, KC, and Oakland. The only issue would be if the team starts to lose and Mangini alienates his veterans which would cause the team to fall off.

You've got your giant foam finger hand thingy (let's everybody know you're number one), the obligatory team logo'd jacket, knit or baseball cap, t-shirt or sweatshirt, and you may even be carrying the really cool mug with the logo on it, to be filled with whatever drinks you prefer. You're ready to do some serious tailgating at that point, right? Hold in there, diehard fanatic. Your ensemble may be missing the coolest trend in sports apparel: COLLEGE OR PRO TEAM SPORTS LUGGAGE!

If you're a sports fan and you enjoy tailgating gatherings with friends and family - and if you need to do some traveling in order to get to a sports event that involves a bit of parking lot socialization - then why ever in the world would you hit the highway or airport with anything other than quality luggage featuring your favorite team's own logo? Any sports fanatic worth his or her salt knows there's nothing that catches attention and strikes up a conversation better than having all the proper gear, and that includes carry-on bags and duffles. Now that you know just how short you may have fallen by not already having a set, let's me share a few hints on the kinds of features you should look for after you run out to buy some immediately after reading these juicy suggestions.

Of course, you can expect to look for baggage with plenty of pockets and sturdy zippers, so we can skip that. What's going to be really important are...

Genuine Sports Team Logo - Whether a college team or professional franchise, there's nothing gained when settling for knock-offs and forgeries that have been altered just enough to avoid lawsuits. The logo should be large enough in size, clarity, and color to attract the eye from clear across the airport concourse. After all, you're supposed to be expressing pride in your team, correct? Then why hide the fact that you're rooting for them? Ensure your logo graphic is significant and solidly attached so that there's no fraying or coming loose after only a year of so of use.

Super-Solid Fabric Quality - When you shop around for sports luggage, especially online, the first thing you should make sure of is whether the fabric itself is going to hold up under the rigors of travelling from town to town, airport to airport, being tossed around baggage claim, abusively cast about taxicab trunks, and banged repeatedly by elevator doors or, oopsy, dropped down flights of stairs by hotel bellhops. Plus, the fabric has to look good while it protects your sports-themed attire and various unmentionables.

Rugged Frame Construction - Whether it's some form of polycarbonate or maybe a less reliable type of aluminum or steel, the frame that moulds the shape of the luggage bag is kind of like the skeleton that holds up your body, absorbing a lot of the pounding that would otherwise do damage to the internal contents. You don't want anything that will bend easily, and yet if it's too rigid with no flexibility then that could have drawbacks when you need to squeeze the bag in between others with little room to spare. A technological balance between strength and flexibility is the key here.

Clear, Long Term Luggage WARRANTY! - One way to know that you're getting a high-quality piece of sports luggage is whether or not the manufacturer offers a product warranty to protect your purchase and provide you with peace of mind. Companies that make cheap, unreliable luggage have no faith in their own product so they either offer no warranty or one that is limited in coverage and timeframe.

With much luggage in the marketplace similarly equipped with typical pockets and storage compartments, the most important factors to look for are high quality fabric, superior quality frame construction, and a super sweet warranty that will cover you if the gear fails to hold up under normal travel usage. When your bags look great, you look great, and you can feel proud in supporting your favorite team.

USA Sports Uniforms For Our Top Athletes Considered

USA Sports Uniforms For Our Top Athletes Considered

By Lance Winslow

Before I got fully into my business career I was a high-performance track and field athlete, and even back then I realized how important my sports equipment was, even as a runner. There were the shoes, socks, shorts, and jersey - it all mattered, you'd be surprised. Even back then those shoes, shorts, and shirts weren't made in the USA, but that wasn't going to stop me. Okay so, let's talk, because it seems to me not much has changed since then, and this was 20 years ago.

You see, recently, there was a piece in the Wall Street Journal on July 20, 2012, which asked; "Does It Matter China Made the US Olympic Uniforms," by John Bussey, which discussed the media sensation brouhaha over the not "made in America" controversy of the uniforms worn at the 2012 London Olympic Games by American athletes. The article stated; "The flap over uniforms has a lot to do with the US's fraught relations with China and a sense the US is losing the race to the Chinese."

You know, in many regards it's true, but we haven't made apparel in our country for a while now, most of that textile industry went to Mexico due to NAFTA, and then got outsourced to the Chinese, and eventually, well, they make most of the clothes we buy there now, and the shoes, even if they say Nike, Adidas, or some other well-known brand. If you own Nike apparel, the running shorts I am wearing right now, well, they are made in Singapore, not China, but what the heck; it's still not made in the USA. Secondly, there is nothing wrong with them, they fit snug, feel great, and look sharp.

Let me ask you something; did these athletes practice in USA Made sportswear - most likely not. In fact, in their life as an athlete, only on rare occasions did they wear any sports attire made in the USA, but now I guess because it is an election year, high unemployment numbers, and the unions want to elect a democrat, I guess it's news worthy, as outsourcing of American Jobs seems to be a big pet peeve for this political season.

Now then, let me ask you something else; tell me when you celebrated your Fourth of July, I bet you had a BBQ, a really cool unit, that you bought at Lowes or Home Depot and I bet it wasn't made in America. Nor were the paper plates, plastic cups, or plastic American Flags - you see all that was made in China. Further, who do you think invented fireworks in the first place - yep, the Chinese some 2,000 years ago in fact. Think about it. All we should focus on in winning Gold Metals - lots of them!

I Want to Learn Boxing

I Want to Learn Boxing

By Dave B Scot

OK then - You finally decide that you want to learn how to box, so you check out some prices on the internet and buy yourself a punch bag and a pair of boxing gloves.

They eventually arrive, you've put on your shiny new boxing gloves and you're now staring at a brand new heavy bag that you're ready to try and beat into submission. But before you just stand there and start swinging those arms around like a drowning man, take some time to learn and understand the basic principals of boxing training and safety first. Not only will they make you a much better fighter, they will also help prevent you getting injured.

What kind of stance will you use?

All boxers adopt a certain style of fighting - What style will yours be?

Yeah you will no doubt try and KO that heavy bag, but no one has ever managed to do that before and you won't either. The only thing you probably will manage to do by trying it is to injure yourself, coz you sure won't injure that bag. Then that's the training over until you recover again. Assuming that the injury hasn't put you off the sport.

So - What punches will you throw at that bag?

Will you remember to add those "combinations" too?

Hopefully you won't just stand still in front of that new bag swinging punches. Use that bag to practice your footwork too. Move around it and throw those punches from different angles. Assuming that you know how to move your feet properly?

Do your hands hurt yet?

If they do, maybe you'll remember to use hand-wraps before you pull on those new boxing gloves next time? There are certain ways to do that as well, or you might just be doing yourself more harm than good.

Then there's the gloves - What kind of gloves did you buy to hammer that heavy bag? Are they the proper ones for bag work?

Does the rest of your body hurt too?

Maybe that happened because you didn't warm up properly before starting the training session. But how do you actually warm up properly? Plus, did you remember to cool down again afterwards?

Now all those things above are just a tiny example of what can go wrong if you decide to train at home without seeking out the proper advice first. Obviously the best way to learn is to seek out a local boxing gym and find yourself a decent boxing trainer. Maybe there isn't one nearby you though - They charge for their services and maybe you can't afford that? - Or maybe you just want to train at home first to find out if boxing is the right sport for you personally, before you start taking things to another level?

To ease those problems and many more, I've put together a set of 12 Free Boxing Lessons which you are welcome to use. They won't turn you into a world champion overnight, but they cover the basics and MUCH more, so they will get you off to a real good start.

Enjoy them

Dave is better known to everyone as ScotBoxer.

Modern Technology has Given Us a Wonderful Range of Sports Sunglasses

Modern Technology has Given Us a Wonderful Range of Sports Sunglasses

By Valerie Giles

Modern technology has given us a wonderful range of sports sunglasses frames and sports sunglasses lenses made to both enhance and stand up to the demands of the sports enthusiast with lightweight, flexible, durable materials, no-slip frames and a wide variety of lens options. The sports sunglasses and discount sunglasses are made to suit whatever sporting activity you might be considering whether it be golfing, skiing, snow boarding, playing tennis, motorcycling, cycling, kayaking, boating, water skiing, fishing, mountain climbing, snow shoeing, mountain biking, playing baseball, running or jogging the options have never been more abundant.

One of the most important aspects of the sports sunglasses is the lenses. The optical quality and visual enhancement of sports lenses has never been better. Lens colors such as brown, yellow, green, gray, rose, amber and orange can help enhance your sports performance by filtering out colors and allowing you to see what is most important. Polycarbonate lenses are a popular choice as they are impact resistant and very strong which is helpful when it comes to sports. Having lenses that are impact resistant is also a necessary factor when it comes to children wearing sunglasses, impact resistant means the lenses won't shatter if bumped or knocked.

The sports sunglasses frames available are just as important as the lenses you choose. Sports sunglasses frames can be found in lightweight and durable frame materials such as polyamide which keeps it shape even when under stress. Goggle frames made of softer flexible materials like rubber, nylon and propionate prove to be excellent as they hold their shape and will not become brittle in the cold temperatures when skiing or snow boarding and therefore will not injure your face. It is possible to find good quality discounted sunglasses, replica sunglasses and sports sunglasses frames to accommodate whatever sporting activity you choose to participate in.

When it comes to sports sunglasses polarized lenses are another popular option as they are ideal for water and winter sports where water and snow can increase the reflective glare, especially on flat surfaces. Polarized sunglasses lenses absorb approximately ninety eight percent of reflective glare offering glare free vision for your sporting activities. Polarized sunglasses are excellent choices for boating, water skiing, skiing, snow boarding, golfing, motorcycling, cycling and jogging with polarized lenses also available in ski goggles. Polarized sunglasses come in a wide variety of designs, colors and styles and can be found on discount sunglasses sites at affordable prices for everyone.

With so many wonderful sports sunglasses, polarized sunglasses, discounted sunglasses and replica sunglasses to choose from you might have difficulty selecting just one or two pairs of sunglasses. With that said the following are just a few of the sports sunglasses trends you might encounter and can include; no-slip temple grips and nose pads (quite often made of rubber); polarized sunglasses lenses that enhance sports performance by absorbing ninety eight percent of reflective glare; lightweight and durable sports sunglasses frames made with polyamide which keeps it shape even when under stress; sports sunglasses with changeable lens systems that allow you to use dark lenses under sunny skies or clear lenses for darker conditions; and sports specific sunglasses with color enhance lenses.

Ski goggles like sports sunglasses have also benefited from modern technology with the materials used to make them. Ski goggles not only provide protection for the face but for the eyes as well, with some ski goggles covering the whole upper portion of the face (smaller goggles are also available). Ski goggles are made with a lens area large enough to give the wearer a wide field of view and good peripheral vision. Unlike sports sunglasses ski goggle frames are made of softer more flexible materials like rubber, nylon and propionate as they hold their shape and will not become brittle in the cold and injure your face. Available in rose, yellow-orange and pink tints ski goggles allow you to make out the shapes, objects and bumps in the snow. Like sports sunglasses ski goggles are also available with polarized lenses which filter out the glare.

Due to the large number of sports related eye injuries each year, the importance of athletes wearing protective sunglasses and sport eyewear becomes obvious.

Whether you wear ski goggles for snow boarding and skiing or protective eye shields made of polycarbonate (impact resistant) for baseball eye safety is necessary.

Sports sunglasses will not shatter or bend like regular sunglasses might. Another reason for wearing protective sports sunglasses is simply for their UV (ultraviolet) protection, you should look for at least ninety eight percent UVA and UVB protection when selecting your sports sunglasses because without proper eye protection keratitis (sunburn) of the eyes can occur. The tinted ski goggles available can also assist with seeing the subtle bumps and lines of the ski hill which in turn can ensure your overall safety.

A popular trend in sports sunglasses is that of sunglasses for enhancing sports performance. Some of the sports enhancing sunglasses can include; yellow tinted sports sunglasses used for tennis where the balls are usually yellow; green tinted sports sunglasses excellent for golf as they give more contrast and visual acuity so the objects in the course such as flag stick and ball will stand out; specially tinted sports sunglasses for trap shooting and baseball; amber or rose ski goggles which enhance the soft grays that mark shadows on a ski slope, these shadows allow you to distinguish the ridges or bumps in the surface. The sports sunglasses that you select should also offer protection for your eyes.

There are sports sunglasses available for whatever types of sports you and your family are interested in. Whether you purchase your sports sunglasses or polarized sunglasses from discounted sunglasses, replica sunglasses or fake sunglasses sites you should always be sure that the quality of your sports sunglasses is high. By selecting high quality designer sunglasses lenses and sports sunglasses frames you will be protecting your eyes from damage, while at the same time enhancing your sporting activity to the fullest.

History of Football

History of Football

By Keith Bean

The history of football is generally traced back to it's beginnings in rugby. The English game that is very similar to football and soccer which also began in England back in the early 1800's.

The college campuses of Ivy League schools all played similar variations of football through the mid 1800's. Then shortly after the end of the Civil War around the 1860's some of the colleges began playing organized football. Princeton University frontiered some of the basic rules of football and the game became patented. It seems odd to be able to patent a game but nonetheless the sport began to grow. The first football game in college football history was then played in 1869 between Princeton and Rutgers with Rutgers as the victor thus producing football history.

College Football History took another big step in 1873 when a number of colleges met to form the first rules of the game and established the amount of players on each squad. The coach for Yale, Walter Camp assisted the final step in the change from rugby style football to the American style. He limited the number of players to eleven on each team and sized the football field to 110 yards. He then created the downs system in 1882 which was originally three downs to gain 5 yards and then changed to 4 downs to gain 10 yards.

Without proper safety equipment at the time the sport had become extremely brutal and dangerous to all the players. There were even a number of deaths that had taken place in the sport. It had become such a serious problem that the President of the time Teddy Roosevelt summoned a change and helped implement a group of 7 selected members to govern a rules organization and save football history. This committee eventually became the NCAA or National Athletic Association which we all know today.

The committee formed a number of new rules including the forward pass and a number of safety measures which penalized players for roughness and unsafe acts. Football history was changed when a common practice for the time of locking arms and blocking in unison which was rightfully made illegal as well. The game was shortened to the sixty minutes that we play today and a neutral zone between the offense and defense was also incorporated.

The development of the sport led to an inevitable expansion into the college football area. College football history has since flourished into an incredible weekly spectacle. Hundreds of college teams now compete each year under the guidelines of the NCAA. Numerous college divisions now have conferences and all have hopes of winning a major New Year's Day Bowl. The history of football and nostalgia are alive in well in college football today.

Professional football was first played around 1895 and in 1920 the APFA or American Professional Football Association was formed. It was renamed to what we all know today as the NFL or National Football League in 1922. The NFL started slow and in the mid forties only had ten teams. A major merger then took place in 1970 that combined the 16 NFL teams with the 10 AFL teams to make one large association with two conferences. The expansion continued to the now 32 team league and professional football has grown tremendously since it's beginnings in 1869 from one college game to a billion dollar empire. So goes the history of football.

Four Simple Cardio Programs to Burn Fat Super Fast

Jumping Rope

Jumping rope provides a number of health benefits: not only is it a great cardiovascular exercise that burns calories and fat, but it also develops good coordination between the hands and feet, as well as rhythm (muscle coordination). The greatest thing about jumping rope is that it is very inexpensive and you can do it almost anywhere.

Jumping rope has been proven to be a very effective method for burning fat. It has been shown to burn as many as 1,000 calories per hour. Wow, that is some serious caloric expenditure! Some of the best and leanest athletes swear by it. Movies often depict professional boxers skipping rope because it develops great cardiovascular endurance and stamina. It's no wonder that boxers are some of the best-conditioned athletes.

Grab a jump rope and try it yourself!

Stand erect, but relaxed, when you jump.

Keep your knees slightly bent.

Look straight ahead, not at your feet.

Land on the balls of your feet, not on your heels.

Keep your arms fairly still, do not flail.

Start by jumping slowly, building up your speed so you can jump rope more quickly over time. See how many times you can jump without missing. Try to do 100 skips before you have to stop – then, beat that record the next time. Do 50 super fast jumps, followed by 50 slower jumps.

Jumping rope is great for the whole family. Have even more fun by getting some friends to play Double-Dutch. Jump rope for 30 minutes, five times a week, and watch your waistline shrink. Go invest in a jump rope today, and quickly get the body you want.

Jumping on a Trampoline

Jumping on a trampoline – yes, I said jumping on a trampoline – is a great workout. It not only develops excellent proprioception (body awareness), but it also burns a ton of fat and calories. And did you know that the rhythmic bouncing has a powerful effect on the lymphatic system, which builds a stronger immune system?

A trampoline provides exercise that are easy on the joints, very low in stress, and great for the body.

It's easy to start a trampoline regimen. Buy a mini-trampoline for your living room and jump while watching your favorite TV show, or bounce to a trampoline workout video. For tons of family fun, buy a large trampoline for the backyard. Start jumping on your trampoline for 30 minutes a day and bounce away your pounds.

Outdoor Sprints

A Great workout: go outside and sprint as hard and fast as you possibly can. Once you feel like you're going to collapse, stop; walk until you're no longer huffing and puffing; then, sprint again. You might call this the 'Forrest Gump' Workout. Repeat as many times as you can, or until you complete a full 30 minutes of sprints and rest/walking.

This is a very intense workout, so you need a good level of fitness and conditioning before trying it. Sprint your butt off, walk until you catch your breath, then do it again. The harder you push yourself, combined with the faster and longer distance you run, the sooner you will get in shape and the more fat you will lose.

Outdoor sprints offer fat loss and a great body at no cost, so push harder than you ever have pushed before. If this sounds too difficult, consider the payoff. Any successful athlete will tell you they have put their bodies through this type of workout challenge.

If you are in good physical health, a sprint workout is extremely safe – so remember, just because you might feel like quitting doesn't mean you have to. In other words, keep pushing and get your butt in shape, no whining, no complaining; just results, and a happy, more confident you.

Stadium Stairs

Running up stairs is a great no-cost, outdoor workout available at your local high school or college stadium. Sprint to the top of the stadium, then walk down the stairs. Remember, safety first! As soon as you get to the bottom, sprint back up to the top, and repeat.

This extremely high-intensity cardio program will burn fat quickly and send your heart rate through the roof. Sprinting stairs is a common exercise for all levels of athletes, and who among us doesn't want the lean, muscular shape of an athlete? So stop complaining about not being able to afford the fancy equipment. Go to the stairs and run your butt off! You'll get a tight, firm rear because you'll lose that fat from your behind, and everywhere else, as you burn up the calories running up those stairs.

Muscle Building Rules For Skinny Fat People

Muscle Building Rules For Skinny Fat People

Author: Jimmy Smith

Muscle building can be really easy unless you are a skinny fat guy. You know those guys who have skinny arms and legs but have a nice little pouch for a stomach. Luckily I have spent years research why exactly certain people like me and you are skinny and fat at the same time. It really has a lot to do with your training. Most people are so dead set on training a certain way that they can not see the long term implications, which is a bigger stomach and less muscle on your arms and legs.

Skinny fat people must train with full body works and bodypart split
I get really confused when I hear about skinny fat guys doing all full body workouts or having a arm or chest day in the gym. Both of those training methods should actually be used if a skinny fat guy plans on building muscle.

The only really way that someone is going to build muscle and burn fat at the same time is to train with frequency, volume and intensity. All three of those characteristics have to be met or else the skinny fat guy will not build muscle. By doing so you can raise your metabolism as well as increase your muscular size.

For skinny fat muscle building I typically recommend two full body days and two to three body part split days depending on your time.

Skinny fat people must do both high intensity and slow steady cardio
The recent trend by many experts is to recommend nothing but high intensity interval cardio. This is good advice but most experts do not know anything about how to train a skinny fat guy. After all, I am not the number 1 expert on skinny-fat muscle building in the world for nothing.

You see both high intensity and slow and steady cardio have advantages. For a skinny fat guy, high intensity cardio will help burn the excessive calories that are floating around and go right to your stomach. Slow cardio on the other hand will help him burn fat when you do not want to risk the chance of burning muscle tissue.

Skinny fat people must perform more leg work
I know that everyone hates it but leg work is a must for skinny fat guys. Leg work increased the amount of testosterone, the most powerful muscle building hormone that we have. The problem with skinny fat guys is that they have low amounts of testosterone. This is one of the main reasons that they have a bulging stomach. Testosterone is linked to building muscle but in a lack of testosterone, our body will hold onto fat. The best thing that a skinny fat guy can do is squat and deadlift at least twice a week. Now do not worry, you do not have to both squat and deadlift twice a week. One day should be centered on your squat and improving that lift while the second day should be centered on building the deadlift.

Training lower body allows you to increase both your metabolism and muscle building hormones, which is the aim of skinny fat guys, which is to increase muscle building hormones and increase metabolism.
