QA Training: Ratio of Negative Test Scenarios

QA Training: Ratio of Negative Test Scenarios

Author: smith

The ratio in which the negative test scenarios and positive scenarios must co-exist depends upon certain aspects like Domain. If domain is such critical that must be well taken care of then negative testing cycle must span along with positive testing cycle. The chances are that whatever areas have been covered once and bugs were not identified in that cycle can be easily covered via its counterpart. These Testing cycle can be well understood when one has taken QA Training. These clockwise and anti-clockwise testing cycles can make sure that all the normal flows and flows that could lead to probability of finding corner issues can be covered for maximum coverage. QA Training has comprehensive course coverage for testing cycles. The chances are that the 50%~ 50% ratio could lead to 100% test coverage. The what-if when prepared before-hand can save both time and effort. These negative scenarios when not handled in advance can be a cause of catastrophic failures as these were not tested previously. QA Training is one of most comprehensive courses that let no stone unturned.

The negative scenarios can answer the questions that what the software must not do.

There are two sets of user name and password combinations for successful login. This successful login must not happen if the credentials are swapped. Many other techniques can be mastered via QA Training

  1. Username1:Password1 this combination must  lead to a successful login
  2. Username1:Password2 this combination must lead to a successful login

When testing negative scenarios check for

  1. Username1:Password2 this combination must not lead to a successful login
  2. Username2:Password1 this combination must not lead to a successful login

Although each four are authenticated and valid as per software acceptance is concerned but in this case for wrong value pairs. Test scenarios are one of the focused course content that comes under QA Training.

These issues when handled and planned for testing coverage may reveal many loop holes and breaches.Right from the beginning when planning for testing these can be learnt via QA Training. For every clockwise positive testing cycle there must be one anti-clockwise negative testing cycle.Usually the software is tested well for the usual working behavior but not for the corner issues that's the point where things starts getting fragile. When a thorough test coverage is learned via Quality Assurance Training then there are very few chances that things will get shady.

There are various testing methods and techniques that are applicable to different stages and are suitable for different domains of a project. Which technique is applicable at what stage depends on knowledge as well experience these both can be learned via QA Training under the supervision of expert trainers.

5 Reasons Why Every Business Needs A GPS Tracker

5 Reasons Why Every Business Needs A GPS Tracker

By Kelly Elmore

A powerful GPS tracker can help all kinds of busy businesses and organisations in many different ways. The satellite navigation system known as the Global Positioning System effectively allows every object on the face of the planet to be identified, located and tracked. This has incredible implications for everyone, not least for companies involved with transportation, deliveries and removals.

Any business that makes use of a vehicle or a fleet of vehicles can greatly benefit through the use of such valuable devices.

1. A GPS tracker can effectively reduce a company's expenditure on fuel bills. By carefully plotting the most efficient of routes from any given starting point to a client's location unnecessary diversions or delays can be taken out.

2. A driver correctly trained in correct road conduct will become aware that a careful and considered approach to the open road is far safer than an aggressive, acceleration reliant driving style. As well as being generally safer for the individual - and all other road users - it will reduce the risk of needing to pay out for repair work caused by traffic accidents. In this way, making use of a sophisticated tracking system can greatly improve employee safety and make further savings.

3. In this day and age every modern and forward looking business should be doing everything that they can for the environment. Green issues are a constant source of debate but one thing that everyone can agree upon is the vital need for drivers to measure how much fuel they consume and make attempts to minimise it. A GPS tracker can help with this by making it far easier for companies to plot the most direct route to a client. This will remove any risk of being on the road longer than necessary, meaning that only fuel actively needed is consumed.

4. A client's confidence in a working assignment and a company team's ability to organise it should be at the front of every manager's mind. By having the knowledge of exactly where each and every company vehicle is and how far they are from any particular destination, a customer service team can constantly update a client on the job's progression. In this way a tracking system can make all the difference in putting across a clear and confident approach.

5. Every business involved with transportation succeeds or fails depending on how well and how quickly they manage to get things done. A GPS tracker can speed up the working processes by organising every aspect to the maximum degree. Constant communication and knowledge of exact locations allow things to be completed quickly, thoroughly and accurately.

Should I Buy a Cross Cut Shredder or Strip Cut Shredder For My Business?

Should I Buy a Cross Cut Shredder or Strip Cut Shredder For My Business?

By Jennifer Biggins

Many business owners may consider if they should purchase a Cross Cut Shredder or Strip Cut Shredder for their business. Why do some business owners think about this as an option? One main reason for this might be because they are looking for a shredder that can effectively shred confidential documents. These business owners want to be sure that the shredders being used can effectively shred a document so that it cannot be read by others. This is very important to business owners since we live in a world full of identity theft where many thieves try to cash in on people and businesses personal information.

For many business owners, confidential shredding is a must. They need a shredder that can shred a document beyond recognition and one that cannot be put back together. This is how a cross-cut shredder operates. It can shred a document so that it cannot be put back together. The difference between a cross cut shredder and a strip cut shredder is that the paper being shredded by the strip cut shredder sometimes it can be put back together again. It is also possible for these shredded documents to be scanned by using certain software programs that can scan pieces and put the document back together.

So many business owners rely on effective confidential shredding of their documents. Some shredding services also provide onsite truck disposal services. This is when a truck comes onto the site of your business and dispose of the companies shredded documents and confidential information. Other companies will provide an onsite bin where the business owner would use to place shredded documents in and a truck comes to pick up and dispose of the shredded documents. This is why many of them will do a thorough search of many shredding services in order to find the one that offers the highest level of shredding confidential documents. Not many shredding services can offer high levels of security ranging from one to six. This is what cross-cut paper shredders can offer. These levels are used to show the size of the paper after it has been shredded. Number six is used for shredding the highest level of confidential documents.

For business owners who might be concerned with the speed or capacity of the shredder, they might want to consider purchasing the strip cut shredder since it is effective for being used for this purpose. Personal and confidential documents are shredded quicker and in smaller pieces so that visibility of the information is impossible. It is important for the purchaser to understand that some shredders cost more than others due to the quality and the set of blades on the shredder. Before purchasing a paper shredder, it is important to know the volume of the paper that you need to be shred.

For more information on the topics raised in this article, such as confidentiality and privacy, and the advantages of shredding documents in the uk, get in contact with or visit The Shredding Alliance, who have experience in the relevant field.

Minimize Your IT Expenses With Managed IT Services

Minimize Your IT Expenses With Managed IT Services

By Manvi Raj

In this world, you might be feeling as if you are wastefully spending money on your IT systems without any fruitful results. Companies find it good to take up an IT service plan to manage their IT infrastructure. Of course, outsourcing these services is much better because this helps you to make substantial business savings. Besides this financial reason, managed IT services for business enterprises benefit them in several other ways.

Other benefits of hiring managed IT service providers

Your provider enables you to reduce your real trade costs by making it run more smoothly and efficiently. Plans offering you managed IT services help you to maintain and run your hardware. Sometimes, you might wish to keep a backup copy of your entire data on site so that you don't encounter any fears of losing it. But, the reality is that the supporting hardware runs more efficiently when you outsource it. This even costs you lesser than hiring a full-time or, part-time employee.

Gain profits with your provider

With a managed IT service provider, you can trim your IT operational costs too. It is through outsourcing that you don't need to design and devote a large office space for servers. All of us know that servers are quite unpredictable and require huge amount of maintenance. This outsourcing can be really helpful and effective to keep your office space free and use it for carrying out your major trade functions. In this way, your trade gains profits by hiring this kind of provider.

Managed services help you to save your valuable time

Managed IT service providers enable you to focus on your major trade functions, instead of making you lose your valuable time by working on IT systems and hardware. You can utilize your mental energy to execute much more profitable jobs than making your hardware operate. It is through remote IT support that your IT-related costs and other trade expenses are reduced. Hence, you don't need to spend lots of money unnecessarily.

Say "No" to additional IT expenses with your provider

We know that technology becomes outdated quite fast. Consequently, whatever new you do for carrying out your IT operations with greater amount of efficiency, it won't match up the latest trends in technology. But, with outsourcing, your IT expenses are trimmed. Besides, you don't have to bother about keeping yourself technologically updated.

This way you can save lots of money without worrying about the hardware maintenance and software replacement cycle of your key servers. Your managed IT service provider will be responsible to keep you up to date and you won't have to incur any additional IT expenses too. Invest a little in outsourcing the technical operations of your business to a company outside and get huge sums of money in return to invest them back.

Working Out Conflicts With Banquet Halls

Working Out Conflicts With Banquet Halls

By Anders Abadie

Despite everyone's best efforts, banquet halls and customers often run into issues or conflicts. In some cases, the problem cannot be helped. Other times, one party is at fault for the problem. While it may be tempting to just walk away from a contract and give up the security deposit, there are other options to consider.

Read the Contract

Before doing anything, make sure that you read the contract that was given to you by one of the banquet halls in town. You want to make sure that you understand exactly what you signed up for. In some cases, a customer believes that he or she has been wronged only to find that the situation was covered in the contract. If you are currently looking for an event venue, this is the perfect argument for reading over all of the details of the contract carefully before signing. For example, if you are planning to have a wedding outside and it rains on the day of the event, who pays to move everything surrounding the ceremony into one of the banquet halls? These are often the situations that tend to cause conflict between the two parties.

Looking for a Compromise

The first step is to consider a compromise. If there is no way around the conflict, consider looking for the next best solution. Start out with an email detailing the issue. If you know that you are in some way at fault, make it a point to mention this. Banquet halls will probably take your concern more seriously if they see that you understand the answer might be no. The email allows both parties to discuss the issue and document it along the way.

If things cannot be resolved, request an appointment with the company's representative and sit down face to face to discuss the issue. It may be necessary to bring along a manager or some other person that also represents the company. Talk over the situation and see if there is any way that you and the other party can come to some sort of compromise. This could mean making an adjustment to the date and time of the event or a change to the menu being offered by the caterer.

It is important to note that most of the time, handling the situation in a logical fashion tends to ensure that you get further with a solution. If this is a wedding, there is no doubt plenty of emotion attached to event and it can be difficult to find that things are not going to work out. Do your best to stick with the facts and work towards a resolution.

Leaving the Contract

If things do not work out, most banquet halls will allow customers to get out of their contracts. However, remember that this does not come without a price. There is always some type of fee associated with breaking the agreement.

grand rapids banquet halls can be a great option for your next big event. For excellent hosting services, go to http://www.thegoeicenter.com.

A Few Pros And Cons Of Joint Venture Marketing

A Few Pros And Cons Of Joint Venture Marketing

By Randall A Magwood

With joint venture marketing, a few things can go wrong with the campaign. You can either make a lot of money with it, or you can lose a lot of money - and time. But you'll never know until you try. Joint venture marketing success depends on so many things, so it's best to make sure everything is up to par, and that you have your stuff together when approaching a possible JV partner.

In today's lesson, I want to go over some of the pros and cons of starting a joint venture. I'm sure you're probably already aware of a lot of the pros that I will list here today - but you need to be aware of the cons also. With knowledge about both sides of the game, it will help you to make wiser decisions when choosing possible joint venture partners. Here's the first pro of JV marketing:

PROS

- You can launch a business

Many businesses have been launched due to JV marketing. Small companies who are trying to compete with the "big boys" find themselves in a desperate situation. Because it's either they can last with the competition, or they will go out of business. So what do they do? They form joint ventures!

A good partnership can really propel you to the top. You can get immediate sales, brand new customers to market to, find new business alliances, and even get more leads. Here's another pro to JV marketing.

- Get started without a list

If you have a product, but no list, you can form a joint venture with someone in your niche who has a big list - but no product. As long as your product fits the demographic of your JV partner's list, you will be good to go. Give them a review copy of your product, and wait until they give you the approval. Once everything is approved, you can start seeing sales right away - if the niche and the product is right.

Now let's talk about some cons.

CONS

- You have to split the money

In the ideal world you'd be able to keep 100% of the profits, but it just doesn't happen that way. You will probably have to offer a 15% to 60% commission for each sale that the JV partner brings for you. Some partners will want a high commission fee, so if the math still adds up and you're still making profits... you will be good to go. Here's another con:

- You have to provide tracking

With a website like "1shoppingcart", tracking stats for your joint ventures is very easy. Sign up to this service and set up a special campaign for your JV partner. Give them their name and password to check their stats, and tell them that it's accurate. 1shoppingcart is a very good service that can track the campaign for you.

As you can see, joint venture marketing has its pros and cons, but mostly, the pros outweighs the cons. So if you're looking to earn more money in your spare time, without much cost... be sure to use JV marketing in your online business today.

Good luck with having success with joint ventures.

Open Your Eyes in 2013 and Wake Up

Open Your Eyes in 2013 and Wake Up

By A Horton

It is time to stop pussy footing around and for you to finally accept 100 % responsibility for your success this year and for every year, which will follow after that. As soon as you become accountable for everything in your life and yes this does mean that you must accept responsibility for both the good and the bad, you have going on. Everything will just seem to click into place and you will not only feel empowered to make a difference in your life this time around, but you will remain in control of both the challenges which will cross your path, as well as remaining accountable to carry out the actions you need to perform daily to achieve all your goals.

Accept Accountability - Transform your Life

It is incredible what effect accepting 100% accountability for everything in your experience, can and will have on your life. The moment I accepted complete responsibility for everything in my life, everything miraculously changed for the better. Challenges which I thought were insurmountable, because I had no control to change them, as they were the fault of other people or circumstances beyond my control, became manageable and I saw ways to not only mitigate their effect, but in many cases even found new opportunities, hidden within the challenges, which were hidden from me before. I also felt far more committed towards my goals and by accepting daily responsibility to carry out the goal specific actions I needed to perform, I started to see very positive results manifest in my life and business.

Making this Work for you in 2013

Accepting responsibility for everything in your experience is a process, it is most certainly not a single event, where you make a decision one day that you are accountable and everything just miraculously changes. i.e. One day you blame the world, the next you are in tune with it and you accept full responsibility for creating the life of your dreams. It is for this reason that I recommend that you use accountability partnerships and reminders, to help you travel the path towards full accountability.

Accountability Partnerships

I see this as the first step in the process, where you identify someone who you can trust, someone who is on a similar success journey to your own, to act as your accountability partner. Both you and your accountability partner, have a mutual responsibility to hold each other accountable each week, for making those significant behavioural shifts, which will help you to transform your life.

The process is simple; you arrange to check in once a week with your each other, on a specific day and time of the week. I find the best time for me is on a Friday afternoon at around 16H00. My accountability partner and I take turns to phone each other and we spend about five to seven minutes on the phone, asking how we did that week, with the behavioural shifts, or daily actions we committed to the previous week? Before putting down the phone, we once again confirm exactly what we want to be held accountable for the following week and who will be responsible to make the call the next week. This process is really powerful, it is incredible how inspired I feel and how motivated and driven I am to make the shifts and to carry out the actions, I have committed to each week. I do not want to have to disappoint myself or my accountability partner.

Reminders

I further reinforce this process with reminders. I use things like vision boards to remind me of my daily commitments towards my goals, bangles on my arm with customised messages, such as "I will, until", which reminds me to keep taking action daily, until I succeed. What reminders can you introduce into your life to remind you to keep taking daily action and to accept 100 % responsibility for changing your life?

Positive Affirmations

Accepting responsibility for everything in your life is difficult, as society has programed us to believe that it is best to blame everyone and everything around you for your lack of performance. This is not an easy belief to eliminate from your mind, as it is so ingrained and deep rooted. It is for this reason that I recommend using positive affirmations, to allow your brain to re-program itself.

I have made myself a set of affirmation CD's, which I listen to for seven minutes every morning, just after waking up. These recordings with soft inspiring music in the background and my own voice telling me that I am 100 % responsible for my own success, etc. and the other tools I have described above have helped me to finally accept 100 % responsibility for everything in my life. You can do the same and completely change the results you will enjoy this year, if you commit to this process.

The Most Profitable Business Sectors in 2010

The Most Profitable Business Sectors in 2010

By Rhondalynn Korolak

Entrepreneurs dream of and start businesses for a variety of reasons. Some hate the jobs they are in, while others dislike the politics of a big office environment. But most would agree that the lure of freedom and flexibility were huge motivating factors.

Regardless of the rationale behind their decision, one criterion is more critical than any other: They want to make money and support their families. While it is easy to get distracted by chasing customers, growing top line revenue and expanding premises, the simple business fundamentals - profit and cash flow - determine whether the entrepreneur's dream will ultimately last or turn into a nightmare.

It is almost impossible to predict the success and financial health of a business by looking at the number of employees, the look/feel of the website, the size of the office or the resume of the owner. Most of us would assume that the only way to really know, is to get a copy of and read the financial statements. While this is a great idea and valuable exercise, there is also another, easy way to narrow down your choices. You could simply choose to start or buy one of the Top 10 Most Profitable businesses - i.e. a venture that statistically has the highest probability of being financially successful.

Sounds straightforward, doesn't it? But how [exactly] do you find out which businesses are on the list?

It is not widely known in the marketplace, but there are in fact certain industry classifications which have a track record of high net profit margins and solid cash flow. There are also certain characteristics and financial metrics of these select businesses which exponentially enhance their profitability. So much so, that these particular businesses are 5 to 10 times more likely to survive and thrive.

1. Consultants, experts and speakers
This industry includes business advisors, authors, coaches, therapists, psychologists, authors and paid speakers. On average, these businesses enjoy high per hour rates, carry no debt or inventory and have very low fixed expenses. The number of professionals in this area is growing rapidly each year and they are consistently generating net profit margins of 25-35%. Not bad for a business that is borne out of one person's expertise - the large majority of these businesses employ less than 3 people.

2. Accounting and financial services
While this industry may sound boring - bookkeeping, payroll, tax compliance, accounting advice and software, advisory services, financial/investment advice etc - these practitioners become a whole lot more interesting when they are standing on their wallets. These businesses tend to have the longest client relationships (as most people perceive a huge risk inherent with switching to a new provider) and thus the lowest churn rate and the lowest cost to acquire and retain clients. They enjoy profit of around 23-26%, have enormous pricing power and their services are seen as must-haves, not discretionary spends. By and large, they also tend to have low operating expenses per client and as a percentage of sales.

3. Legal specialists
Despite their reputation as sharks and bottom feeders, lawyers make excellent profit and cash flow (on average 20-24% net profit margin). Their success factors mirror those of their accounting and financial services colleagues. Most clients are attained through WOM and referrals (keeping marketing costs low) and they tend to stay with their advisor over the long term as there is a perceived risk/cost to switching attorneys. Lawyers are fantastic at generating repeat business and up sales. Some of the most profitable areas include DUI defence, criminal law, tax and estate planning and divorce law.

4. Dentists - general and specialists
Dentists have three key operating advantages - they are often able to treat multiple patients simultaneously, they enjoy high average dollar transactions (most of which is not covered by health care plans) and their operating costs are relatively low (when divided by the total number of patients serviced). Yearly maintenance services (cleaning and x-rays) produce high contribution margins and dentists do a great job of convincing us we need them regularly. On average, they spend more than any other health provider on follow ups and re-bookings. Fortunately, the cost of this direct marketing is much lower than the cost of acquiring new patients and produces returns of 18-22% for the practice.

5. Designers
No matter what they specialize in - structures, decor, your brand, high end clothing and accessories - these professionals have a flair for bringing in the money - in fact about 16-19% on the bottom line each year. These practitioners benefit greatly from high end pricing and relatively low variable product costs and operating margins. Their greatest assets are their customer lists and their time. The greatest risk for those who are not as successful in this area is productivity - either not understanding the time involved to complete a job or not charging market rates for their time.

6. Medical specialists and veterinary medicine
It pays to specialize. The medical profession is relatively recession -proof. No matter what, people and pets tend to get sick and we rarely opt to forgo seeking care and treatment. Surprisingly on the rise are highly discretionary services such as plastic surgery, Lasik eye surgery, lap band specialists, infertility treatment and hair restoration. These specialists are often able to charge outside of what is covered by public and private health care (earning profit of around 14-16%) and they earn much more than their general medicine counterparts.

7. Specialised health and alternative medicine
As with traditional medicine, it pays to specialize. Mental health, podiatry, chiropractic, naturopathy, acupuncture, physical therapists etc. enjoy profits of 13-15% due to high average dollar transactions, repeat visits, low cost of goods sold and low operating margins.

8. Eldercare and retirement services
As the average population continues to age, there is a growing strain on young families from both ends - the need to manage child care with a career AND the need to manage the transition of elderly parents into assisted living or full time care. As a result, placement services, retirement villages, aged care services etc. are growing and becoming more lucrative. Private services in particular can earn 12-14% before tax.

9. Insurance and mortgage brokers
These businesses often cost very little to start and operate and earn their money through 2 distinct streams - the upfront fee they earn for securing the deal and ongoing annual trailers (which can often grow to 80% of their total revenue). While recent changes in many jurisdictions have reduced or delayed their initial payments from banks and various institutions, the ongoing passive revenue streams make these profitable businesses at 11-14% on average. The perceived hassle of switching is high, thus most retain customers for long periods of time and promote/receive referrals regularly.

10. Online business, small deposit and lending institutions
The internet has made it possible for anyone to set up shop and sell goods or services online with little or no experience and low overheads. While there are many dud eBusinesses, the ones that are making money are doing it on a huge scale. The most profitable ones (selling services and membership continuity programs) are earning more than $0.20-0.30 cents on the dollar each year in net profit, but examples of these are few and far between. On average, the ones that sell products and/or services should enjoy 11-14% on the bottom line with no debtors, low inventory and a small investment in fixed assets. Specialised credit unions and private lenders are also enjoying profit margins of around 10-13% due to low overheads and a growing mistrust among consumers with the traditional banks.

From this list, we can draw several important conclusions. First professional services is a winner. Of the list above, 8 out of 10 business fall into the category of professional services. The core drivers of their profitability being steady demand for services(despite economic ups and downs), low overheads, high contribution margins and repeat business. Aside from law, specialized medicine, dentistry and accounting, many of these professions also enjoy relatively low barriers to entry.

More often than not, it pays to specialize. Businesses in niche areas are often able to set high prices, command high value sales with large contribution margins and generate both repeat and referral businesses. This lesson can also easily be extrapolated and applied out to traditionally difficult or low profit industries. Take for example, the restaurant business or general trades like welding or electrical services. By becoming highly specialized, these businesses can directly influence the success and viability of their enterprises.

And finally, size definitely matters. In the small to mid size sector, economies of scale in most industries kick in around $1m in revenue - and this is especially pronounced in industries that require an upfront investment in specialized fixed assets like medical equipment, manufacturing equipment and technology.

Based upon my experience as a lawyer, chartered accountant, and consultant to hundreds of businesses, I discovered that 99% of businesses fail because the owner/manager does not understand how to read and use the numbers in their financials. I wrote Financial Foreplay so that you don't have to get a university degree in accounting in order to make your business more profitable and generate a better return on the investment of your time and money. Which Store Strategy Do You Think Works Best - Clean or Cluttered?

Which Store Strategy Do You Think Works Best - Clean or Cluttered?

By Rhondalynn Korolak

For those of you who are in the retail industry, you may have noticed a recent trend to clean up in-store environments - reduce shelf heights, remove dense ends and dump bins, widen aisles etc. - in order to increase comfort and make the shopping experience less stressful for customers.

The big question then becomes "does clean make customers keen? According to Walmart, arguably the largest and most successful retailer in the world, clean stores mean fewer beans (on the bottom line).

As reported in the New York Times, Walmart conducted a massive in-store experiment to improve sight-lines, rationalize the overall number of items offered, remove warehouse-like merchandising in centre aisles, and increase the width of core aisles.
According to Walmart's CEO William S. Simon, "(Customers) loved the experience. They just bought less."

As a result, Walmart reverted back to its original strategy of offering more products, with tighter aisles, more clutter and lots of bargain bins in the hopes that customers would spend more because of a perception "there were bargains to be had".

If you do a quick search on the internet, there are dozens of experts who subscribe to the view that a larger selection, more bargain bins, and sales signage equates to "better value". In essence, the more you look like a market stall, the better it is to generate buzz and sales. They argue that if your merchandise is neatly presented on the walls and in well organized aisles, with no point of sale impulse offers and dense ends full of 2-for-1 specials, customers will tend to think your store is expensive (i.e. overpriced) and they will not buy from you.

And if you think about it, you can probably name a whole list of retailers who subscribe to this "clutter is good for business" philosophy and they seem to be successful. But how can we be sure that clutter makes customers keen? Have we been too quick and prematurely jumped to a conclusion that clean is a traffic and transaction turn-off?

Recent empirical evidence from the science of neurology sheds new light on how we think, and more importantly, how we make decisions. In fact, the decision making part of your brain responds strongly to certain stimuli only.

Did you know that your brain consumes 25% of your body's energy? As a result, you brain wants to conserve energy so you tend to pay attention and be attracted to things that have sharp contrast, high visual appeal, strong emotional cues and a clear beginning vs. end message.

Now what does this mean for you in the context of your shopping environment?

A chaotic, cluttered store is cumbersome for your brain to navigate - you have to work hard mentally to hunt down and search for bargains. It may create some emotional appeal but it is likely perceived as having low contrast, low visual appeal and no clear beginning vs. end. Shopping in this environment takes time and energy and it also forces your brain to go into "thinking" mode. This is a critical point because thinking is counter-productive to deciding. Thinking takes place in one part of your brain (the neo-cortex), while deciding happens much more quickly (and automatically) in your old or "reptilian" brain.

So what does this research mean for the strategy and conclusions reached by Walmart?

Based on science, the strongest buying cue that you can give your customers is this - if your store (or business) has incredible bargains, people will buy (and even sift through a maze of clutter) because something is in it for them. The "what's in it for me" (WIFM) principle is one of the strongest influences on the part of your brain that decides.

There is no hard evidence to suggest that clutter makes your customers keen.

Walmart and many others have come to a conclusion based on what they THINK people are doing to reach a buying decision in-store. However, neuroscience has empirical evidence to support the opposite conclusion is more probable. Clutter and chaos create an environment where your customers have to think too hard, which is exhausting for the brain. They will do it if they have to, as long as the perceived bargains and value are very high.

Wouldn't it make more sense to find another way to communicate good value and service without exhausting your customers and causing them to waste their time? Wouldn't you be more likely to get more sales and word of mouth referrals from your delighted customers?

In the end, Walmart may be correct about the fact people buy more in a certain circumstances but they are wrong about WHY that is. The best way to create more excitement and sales is to make it easier for your customers to decide. You need to show them what's in it for them, increase the contrast between your solution and your competitors and communicate a strong, clean visual message that compels them to say "YES".

Based upon my experience as a lawyer, chartered accountant, and consultant to hundreds of businesses, I discovered that 99% of businesses fail because the owner/manager does not understand how to read and use the numbers in their financials. New Business Ideas For 2012

New Business Ideas For 2012

By Joseph S Russ

Leverage and gaining the upper hand before anyone else is what most new successful businesses start off doing. A lot of people out there choose a New Year's resolution as something to stop such as smoking or drinking and others choose to lose weight. Why not start your new year by starting and gaining with a new business. Below I will list a few of the trending new business ideas for 2012.

Affiliate Marketing Online
This is and will be a popular idea for years to come because of the ability to do it from home and on your own time. Affiliate marketing is where you associate yourself with a company, product or idea and advertise for them allowing you to make commissions off of sales or clicks to their website(s). Some companies offer free training, website set-up, marketing strategies and marketing tools to aid you in your business. Not all of the tools are usually free but most of them are very resourceful. Another reason for starting a business like this is because you get residual income. Do the work once (write an advertising article) and get paid over and over for it (consistent flow of customers). Of course you can't just create one blog or article and expect it to carry you through all of your finances. You need to get it to grow which requires some time and effort but trust me when I tell you that it will all pay off if done consistently and thoroughly.

Health Products/Weight Loss Programs
Selling health products and/or weight loss programs are great new business ideas for 2012 because of the increasing health issues that arise everyday. If you make a list of the last twenty people you have talked to, think about all of them that either want to lose weight, have an illness they would like to rid themselves of or just get healthier. I bet more than half of that list. Now think of all the people you don't know that want all as well. That's a lot of customers. We live in an infant society and with a business like this you can give that to them. If you get yourself affiliated with a health company that has great weight loss products and programs and you need to lose some pounds yourself then you can become a product of the product. Show people what that product has done for you, show them instantly what the results are.

Selling eBooks Online
If you have a talent, strategy or a story to tell you can create it into a PDF file to read, make a video or even record audio. The eBook won't sell itself however. You need to instill marketing techniques in order to make people want to buy your eBook. This is one of the most time consuming of the new business ideas for 2012 because it's basically two jobs to get one outcome but the outcome can be more recompensing financially.

I hope these ideas give you some inspiration to rise yourself out of the collapse of the economy. Stop trading dollars for hours and do better for yourself. Start a business!

If you're looking for an honest, ethical and legitimate opportunity to generate online income, then visit my site at www.YourPersonalGateway.com.

If you are interested in having your own website set up and receive training and support for free then read this post on Affiliate Marketing.

Small Business Owners: Easy Strategies to Use for Small Business Saturday

By Kym Gordon Moore

Why are small businesses important to the economy? It is because they stabilize and stimulate the economy. Often, many people feel that large corporations across the country are the driving force behind the United States financial system. Small businesses however, are critical to economic growth and are actually the big dogs in the yard.
Typically, Black Friday is a huge, profitable day for many retailers. Cyber Monday is an important online selling opportunity after Thanksgiving for ecommerce. To dedicate a day to recognize, celebrate and support small businesses, American Express created Small Business Saturday so that consumers can honor and patronize the pulse behind the life of our economy. Although industrial giants have more capital, investors and stakeholders in their organizations, small businesses employ over three-quarters of the workforce in the U.S.
Here are a few suggestions and selling opportunities to add to your promotional plans, which will help to enhance revenue and conversions during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
1. Motivate and encourage other local business owners to solicit any ideas or support from your Chamber of Commerce. This should help drive traffic to your company and theirs.
2. Get together with other small companies in your area and plan a Small Business Saturday campaign, in conjunction with Black Friday and Cyber Monday promotions.
3. Plan special events to include local area talent performances and promote benevolent opportunities, such as collecting food for a local food pantry.
4. Utilizing social media channels like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or Google + will help to generate excitement within your community and the surrounding area.
5. Independent small businesses tap into niche and specialty markets. By offering exceptional customer service, quality products, good ethical practices, community outreach and engaging consumers, this will help to build loyal, repeat end-users and referral business.
6. Regardless of the size of an organization, having a "thank you for your business" communication plan in place will add value to your company, while making your customers feel valued.
It is no secret that small business is the heartbeat and pulse of the local and national economy. In many towns across the country, business owners and residents feel threatened when franchises want to enter and saturate their local market share. When this happens, instead of becoming obsolete or insignificant with respect to your contributions to the local economy and the community, research and look for updated ways to increase business from within and ways to attract outside consumers. The worst thing to do is to be a sitting duck in the field of hunters with big guns. By having a marketing strategy in mind, be sure to include your SBA, Chamber of Commerce and other local area business owners in your roundtable discussions to help promote "buying local" initiatives.

Hotel Safety for Your Next Business Trip or Vacation Get-a-Way

Hotel Safety for Your Next Business Trip or Vacation Get-a-Way

By Michelle Annese

From a business trip to the next weekend get-a-way, personal safety and security should be on your mind. It can be especially challenging when your flight was delayed, the taxi cab line was never ending and all you want to do is park, check-in and get to your room as fast as possible. But wait... take some time now to think about your safety with these easy but life-protecting tips...

Checking in...

- if valet parking is available, use it. If not, park by the lobby doors and ask for a hotel escort into the parking lot or garage. A small tip to the person assisting you is well worth to protect your safety.

- travel the lot to park in the most safest space possible. Check to make sure no one is loitering and where you park is well-lit. Try to park as close to the lobby as possible.

- take out all personal items, laptops, electronic devices, money or any other valuables out before you or the valet parks your vehicle. Take items with you or lock them in your trunk.

- when registering, use only your first initial and your last name. Use your business address and phone number.

- request for a room not on a first or second floor (more thefts occur on these two levels especially if there is a sliding glass door, window or balcony) and available with an inside corridor. If the hotel has many buildings, get your room within the main building of the hotel.

- ask the front desk attendant to write down your room number, not said out loud to have bystanders overhear what room you are in.

- ask the hotel staff about the safety of jogging nearby or walking from your hotel to nearby restaurants, movie theaters or the parking lot. They are often the most reliable source of information about the neighborhood. Don't hesitate to ask about transportation shuttle services and escorts to your car or room. If you inquire about or walking areas at the front desk, verify the employee giving you advice has knowledge of the area.

- if your room key is labeled with the room number, take care not to let others see that number. Safeguard your key at all times. Especially in public places. Don't leave it at a restaurant table, by the swimming pool, bar or gym. Don't give it to others. Don't leave it in the room or in the hotel room door.

- do not draw attention to yourself by wearing large pieces of jewelry or flash large amounts of cash.

- keep an eye out for your luggage both to and from your hotel room.

- locate all fire exits, fire extinguishers and elevators.

- Do not use the stairs to get to your room. Always take the elevator. Any secluded part of the hotel is never a good idea to be in i.e. stairwells, parking garages, dark hallways etc.

During your stay ...

- make sure the windows and the between-room door are all locked.

- use all the locks on your door every time you're in your room, especially the dead bolt, flip lock or chain at night.

- put all valuables in the room safe and make sure it is one that is bolted to the floor. Never leave jewelry, credit cards or cash lying around your room.

- if someone knocks on your door, don't open it right away. Keep the door shut and use the peephole and ask the person to identify themselves. If you don't know them, don't open the door. If they claim to be hotel personnel or security, call down to the front desk to make sure the hotel sent them. If their story does not check-out and there is no reason for the person to be there, tell them to go away and then notify the front desk.

- Consider purchasing a portable room alarm. They can hang on the inside door knob, or a floor device that sounds an alarm if your hotel door is opened. To get these room safety devices, go to http://www.safetyquestproducts.com/alarm.htm they're small and easy to travel with. They can fit into a pocket or purse.

- always leave the 'do not disturb' tag on the outside of your door.

- When leaving put the lights and the T.V. or radio on to let no one know you have left the room and it is unoccupied.

- if you loose your key, report it immediately to the hotel's front desk and ask to be moved to another room.

- immediately report any suspicious activity to the Hotel's staff.

When you check-out...

- search through your belongings to make sure all forms of I.D. are safe and nothing is missing with personal information on it.

- request an escort to your vehicle in the parking garage or lot.

- check the inside of the vehicle before getting in.

By following these hotel safety tips, you can increase your protection from a personal assault or theft. Making your business or vacation trip safer and being less of a target for a criminal.

What Is The Right Business Software For Your Company?

What Is The Right Business Software For Your Company?

By James J Hadley

One of the most important things that you should consider for your business is the software that you are operating on your computers. The reason why that is the case is because you want to ensure that it is providing your business with what is needed to be both efficient and profitable. At the same time, you would want to make sure that you are able to work between the various programs that are on the computer so that they can seamlessly interact with each other. When you are able to find this type of software solution, it can assist you through every process that you may do within your business. Here are some specific ways that it may benefit you.

The lifeblood of many businesses is the order to cash process. This allows your business to accept orders from your clients and to turn them into a profit, which will drive your business to new levels. The software that you use is going to make a big difference in the success of this process. If there is one problem in the line, it will likely mean that you are going to end up losing business, which in effect, is going to hurt your business. It is also important that the order to cash process is able to be used by both the sales staff as well as the order fulfillment staff. If anyone is left out of the process, it is likely that serious problems are going to occur. That is why it is important for you to consider this process when choosing your software solutions.

Another process that is going to need to be considered when it comes to choosing software is the procure to pay process. This process is sometimes referred as P2P or purchase to pay. In essence, it is being able to obtain what is needed in order to provide the service or product that is being sold to your customers. This may be in the form of raw material or it may be in the form of data which allows the entire process to move forward. Once again, you must ensure that the procure to pay process is able to move forward effectively and that there are not going to be any problems as a result of the software solution that you are chosen. When you use this type of system properly, it is not only going to increase the amount of profitability that you have for an order, it is also going to affectively decrease how much you are spending on every order. In either case, your company is going to benefit by a larger bottom line.

There are also many other areas that are touched by the software that you are using within your business. This can be true, all the way from the accounting services that you use to the fact that you are likely accessing data from within your company through outside resources. Make sure that everything is running as smoothly as possible with your software, and you will find that you are much more productive and profitable as a result.

The author of this article has had many different experiences throughout his career with different business software. Sometimes it was a procure to pay or order to cash process and other times it was a simple word program.

Think And Organise Before Starting Your Business Venture

Think And Organise Before Starting Your Business Venture

By Zoe D Robinson

Starting up a brand new business from scratch, with something such as a hotel or bar, can be a tough venture and something that people do not think to much about before they start. However there are various elements to consider that may slip your mind when rushing into something. Making a business plan before even viewing possible venues is imperative to the success and smooth run up to a possible big opening day.

First of all money is a huge part of it and setting a budget and then a second budget to allow yourself to go over by so much and sticking to it. When caught up in the moment of buying things people can be persuaded into paying that little bit more, but do not give into pressure and temptation of the offer otherwise the boundary can keep being pushed. It will then end up at an unrealistic figure and you do not want to be stretched for cash when starting up a business.

Carry out research on the area you are looking to buy in, it might be at a really great price for a reason, being that the owner wants rid of it because it is in an undesirable location. You need to go to the building at different times of the day and of course at night to see what is open and located close by, if it is empty of people it may not be the best place for a bar.

Once you have sorted out a venue and bought it the next step is decoration. Again take time in deciding what kind of vibe you want the place to give off as the way the places is decorated reflects the personality and feel of an establishment. Make sure to carry out research on the colours and the type of customers you want to attract. You will also need to look into contract furniture rather than just buying a few chairs like you would for a house. You could still buy the odd pieces of furniture this way but it will end up eating into your budget more and you are not able to customise the design.

Make sure to leave a great deal of time before you attach an opening date. Once that is out for the public to know there is no turning back. Add on extra time that what you think you will need in case of any delays or unfortunate events that might take a bit of time to sort out. Of course enjoy your business venture and look forward to how you can promote it provide a great service for people to use, and creating new jobs.

The Importance of Contracts at Your Business

The Importance of Contracts at Your Business

By James Witherspoon

Without a properly structured contract, a business may not be able to function properly. Contracts outline the various responsibilities of employees, managers, stockholders, and other invested parties as well as regulate the details of each individual's position. In order to ensure that a business is founded on effective principles, all contracts must be correctly written, reviewed, and filed. This process can be simplified by working with an attorney experienced in the contract aspects of business law.

Contract Drafting

When writing up a contract, it is important to consider all aspects of the relationship and responsibilities that it is intended to outline. Often, it is a good idea to work with a legal professional who is experienced with the demands of drafting and knows how to create a clear, effective document. This will help to eliminate possible issues such as contract dispute between those involved with the contract.

Contract Review

Contracts can range from a single paragraph to hundreds of pages long. Once they are drafted, it is the responsibility of the business owner to review the documents and make needed changes to ensure that the contract serves its purpose. By going through each document with a lawyer, many business owners are able to:

  • Ensure that the company is safe from possible lawsuits pertaining to contract violations
  • Carefully place void options into each contract
  • Protect the best interests of the business
  • Maintain industry standards

Without carefully going over each and every line of a contract, a business may compromise their standards and suffer from serious legal repercussions.

Avoiding Contract Disputes

Should there be an issue involving a contract at your business, there are many complications that may arise. Avoiding any problems pertaining to this type of dispute is important. Consider having an attorney and notary present when you go over your contracts, before you present the contract for signing, and ensure that it has allowances for your company to void the relationship with the party should they fail to uphold their duties.

Similarly, employees and partners will be checking to make sure that the contracts they are signing do not compromise their rights. When drafting contracts and reviewing these documents, you must make sure to stay aware of the information as it pertains to all interested parties, not just the side that pertains to ownership. Should there be a breach of contract, the company or individual responsible party may be liable for any associated losses which can be costly for the business' reputation and finances.

Do You Need Legal Support?

Contracts have the ability to make or break a successful business relationship. Fortunately, by working with an experienced legal professional, companies may be able to create successful partnerships that encourage growth and allow for many people to remain involved with various aspects of the business. If you are interested in discussing contract drafting, review, or disputes with an attorney, contact an attorney today to make sure you are doing everything you can to protect yourself, your business, and your company's interests.

Five Characteristics of Effective Property Management

Five Characteristics of Effective Property Management

By Ryan Coisson

Your property represents a huge investment: you need it to be managed properly to ensure a consistent return on that investment at all times. There are probably plenty of property management businesses out there for you to choose from: how do you know which one will do the job best? Here are five basic characteristics to look for.

1. Aggressive and Effective Marketing: As you know, most good tenants will most likely not come knocking on your door begging to rent your property - especially in these tough economic times. Effective property management begins with bringing in quality tenants and keeping your units as full as possible.

2. Excellent Upkeep: To retain good tenants, outstanding property maintenance is a must. Does the company contract with reliable landscapers, snow removal specialists, handymen, and so forth? Does the company have a timeliness policy regarding small and major repairs? The best-kept properties are the ones that will attract the most tenants.

3. Monthly Statements: You want to know on a regular basis what's happening with your properties, and a good management business will keep you up to date at all times with itemized reports and financial statements.

4. Free Basics: Some businesses will quote you an extremely low price for their services only to hit you on the back end with "fees" for specific tasks that should come as part of the deal. Some of the basics that should be "free" with no surprises include: monthly statements, direct deposits, lease renewals and online marketing.

5. Outstanding Customer Service: Your management professionals should be just that - professionals! They should be easy to contact with questions or concerns and return your phone calls quickly and courteously: after all, they work for you!

Choosing the right property management team is one of the most important decisions you'll ever make regarding your real estate investment: take the time to contrast and compare candidates' offerings and you'll enjoy greater peace of mind knowing you chose wisely.

Advent Enterprises ( http://www.adventmgmt.com/ ) provides quality property management services throughout San Diego county.

Resume Reviews - When That Darn Committee Takes Credit for Your Best Ideas

Resume Reviews - When That Darn Committee Takes Credit for Your Best Ideas

By Lance Winslow

The other day, I was reviewing a rather stellar resume from an individual who claimed that he was on many committees, in charge of doing some very important things not only for our country, but also in his industry, and the very large Corporation he had worked for during a 20 year period. However, we could not attribute the success of all those committees to this individual, even though he had claimed that it was his idea which contributed to their success. He told us that since he was an idea man, he was often called in for consulting, or to work on specialty teams and projects, or focus groups, think tanks, and committees.

He told me that it was the sign of a true leader not to take credit for all he had done, and to let other people on the committee take credit so they can also take ownership of the project. For this I do not disagree, however when reading his resume it appeared he tried to take the credit, but previously he had also inadvertently given credit to everyone else on the committee, and averted his brilliance and excellence from himself. By doing this he could not really take credit on his resume, even though he attempted to do so. Therefore, we had to dismiss almost everything on his resume, even though he claims that most everything which was done was his idea.

Now then, perhaps you've been on a number of committees or on very large specialty teams working on extremely important projects yourself, and if so I have a question for you; how does it make you feel when the committee takes credit for your best ideas? You see, in my own life I've been involved in team projects, and more committees and I care to talk about. Each one I contributed too significantly, and while there were others there, mostly they just sat there and listened and later executed my plans. No, like this other individual I could not take credit for what came out of the committee even though it was my concept.

For me personally, it hasn't been a bad ride, and since I've always been self-employed, it hardly matters who gets credit for my great ideas, however this individual was trying to get a job, and he had sprinkled suggestive dialogue in his resume of his expertise and abilities, unfortunately none of which he could prove. We did not hire this gentleman, we could not tell if he was BS'ing us or if his resume was the real deal. Later on I thought that indeed he might be all he says he is, but we have a stack of resumes here, and we are going to go with someone else. Please consider all this and think on it.

100 Top National Insurance Companies Serving Employee Group Benefit Brokers

100 Top National Insurance Companies Serving Employee Group Benefit Brokers

By Donald Yerke

Although this data is not 100% accurate, it is probably the most precise info available. Employee group benefit brokers need to know where to find the plans to fit their client needs. It is a well established fact that employers cannot handle the entire burden of providing a grocery list of benefits that their workers would like to have. As a result brokers are working with both the employee and his workforce. The worker is being given options of having additional coverages available with the convenience of premiums taken right from their paycheck. This is a win-win-win situation for the employer, the worker, and the agent.

Here you will find the top national insurance companies in this market, along with others marketing in most states. For brokers selling products with only one insurance company, it seems impractical and virtually impossible. I carry around a Swiss army knife, which although useful, often is incapable of performing the job correctly. Therefore, in my experience, I have found most agents selling plans more than occasionally, represent more than one insurance company. Like the Swiss army knife, no one insurance company can serve all situations. According to my records, the average broker involved in frequent sales represents 3 national insurance companies for this employee market.

For your convenience, there are two lists prepared alphabetically. The first are the carriers licensed to sell their employee benefit plans in all 50 states. The second listing is of states selling in a minimum of at least 40 states. All should have websites to receive fast additional information. With 100 top national insurance companies listed, maybe it is time to check out a couple more.
