How to Find Cover Design Templates for Your EBook

By Laura E F Wolf

Most people still judge the book by the cover, and this is the main reason it is important to find a good cover design. There are a couple of free tools even beginner designers can use to create stunning covers; for printed, Kindle and PDF eBooks. The below article is going to explain how to find the right cover design and create a stunning book graphics in just a couple of minutes.
1. Once the Book is Ready
Once the book is ready, it is important to find the graphic that most expresses the feeling readers are expecting. For example in the case of writing a book about losing weight, it is a good idea to have a person on the cover measuring themselves or eating a salad. In case of fiction books, most authors go with an image that represents the most prominent scene.
2. Free Image Sites
There are a couple of free and paid image sites to be used when creating cover design templates. One of them is SXC.hu, which has plenty of royalty free photos and graphics. The image can be saved on the computer and used for the cover graphics. Microsoft also has a fee image library with photos and graphics; a good place to start. There are obviously paid sites like IStockPhoto and for a couple of dollars the right picture can be bought.
3. Free Image Editor
There are plenty of free image editors available, however, the most user-friendly one is PhotoScape. The fully functional version can be downloaded and the image edited. Once the picture file is opened in the program, text can be added by clicking on the text button and the background can be set.
4. Free 3D Cover Creator
3DPack.com is a very good free eBook cover creator, available without registration. The graphics can be added, edited and rotated and the image file can also be saved. In this program, the background, side, front and back images need to be uploaded from the computer. A simple background image matching the colors of the cover would do. As the program would insert the logo in the image, it is necessary to crop the finished image.
5. Saving the Graphics in the Right Size and Format
In case of publishing the sales page for the eBook on the webmaster's own site, there is a need to optimize the size of the image. It should be clearly visible but still not take too long to load. When publishing on Kindle,.jpeg or.gif files are the best to use.
