Steve Jobs' Death According to the Famous

                When the world learned that the man who introduced iPhone, iPod, iMac, iTunes and Ipad died, the world starts to grieve. Even his rivals shed a tear.

This Wednesday, major technology sites all pay tribute to the former Apple CEO Steve Jobs. His death story becomes the headline of CNET, TechCrunch, Mashable and other technology news sites.

A statement from the Jobs family confirmed the death of the former CEO. "Steve died peacefully today surrounded by his family," starts the statement.  It is expressed that the family is grateful for the support of those who shared their feelings for Jobs. Moreover, the statement asks the public to respect their privacy during their time of grief.

Apple Bleeds

After the death of its former CEO, the Apple website's homepage shows a grayscale photo of Jobs with "Steve Jobs 1955-2011" text.

Apple current CEO Tim Cook released a statement saying "Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple."

In a statement, Apple Board of Directors wrote that Job's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich all lives.

On the Apple website, the company encourages readers to send their thoughts, memories, and condolences to rememberingsteve@apple.com.

Bill Gates: the Rival in Sorrow

Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft Corp. and a longtime rival of Jobs immediately released a statement saying it had been "an insanely great honor" to work with Jobs.

"I'm truly saddened to learn of Steve Jobs' death, stated Gates on the release. Melinda and I extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends, and to everyone Steve has touched through his work."

According to Gates, he met Jobs nearly 30 years ago and they have been colleagues, competitors and friends of over the course of more than half of their lives.

"The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come, "continued gates on the release.

Gates ended the statement saying he "will miss Steve immensely".

Shocked and Disturbed Friends in the Industry

On ABC News, Jobs' childhood friend Steve Wozniak confessed of being shocked and disturbed upon learning that Jobs is dead.

On Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg thanked Jobs for being a mentor and a friend. "Thanks for showing that what you build can change the world," wrote Zuckerberg on his profile.

A statement from Walt Disney President Bob Iger says that Jobs was a great friend and a trusted advisor. "With his passing the world has lost a rare original, Disney has lost a member of our family, and I have lost a great friend," stated in the press statement.

Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt told CNBC that Jobs defined "a generation of style and technology unlikely to be matched again".

On his Google+ account, Google co-founder Larry Page expressed he is "very, very sad to hear the news about Steve Jobs". "My thoughts and Google's are with his family and the whole Apple family," Page posted on his account.

Also on his Google+ account, Google co-founder Sergey Brin posted "Steve, your passion for excellence is felt by anyone who has ever touched an Apple product".

Dick Costolo, Twitter CEO, tweeted "Once in a rare while, somebody comes along who doesn't just raise the bar, they create an entirely new standard of measurement".

In a post on Microsoft News Center, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer wrote "My heart goes out to his family, everyone at Apple and everyone who has been touched by his work".

AT&T Chairman and CEO Randall Stephenson also said "we had the privilege to know him as partner and friend" in a statement.

Leaders React Also

US President Barack Obama, on a release, admitted that he and wife Michelle are saddened about the news. "By building one of the planet's most successful companies from his garage, he exemplified the spirit of American ingenuity," Obama stated on the release.

Meanwhile, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg also expressed in a statement that American has lost a genius. According to the mayor, Jobs will be remembered with great scientists Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein.

In a statement, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said that Jobs' sage advice was respected by policymakers "on both sides of the aisle". "I hope it is a comfort to those who loved him, especially his family, that so many grieve his loss and are praying for them at this sad time," wrote the leader.

On Twitter, former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger tweeted "Steve lived the California Dream every day of his life and he changed the world and inspired all of us."

Celebrities Honor Jobs Via Twitter

To pay tribute to Jobs, Maria Shiver has a suggestion. She tweeted "I'm going to turn off my Apple computer, iPhone and iPad tonight at 8pm and honor Steve with a moment of digital silence. Will you join me?"

Moreover, American Idol host Ryan Seacrest tweeted "They already know what you truly want to become."

TV host Nancy Grace was about to go on air when she learned about the news.  "My heart goes out to his family tonight. #RIP Steve Jobs," tweeted the Dancing With The Stars contestant.

Miami Heat Lebron James described Jobs as "someone who definitely left mark on this world with innovations that will live and last forever" in his tweets.

Kim Kardashian tweeted saying Jobs was a brilliant man.

Neil Patrick Harries also tweeted "Your genius will live on for generations to come".

Even Australian musician Michael Paynter tweeted "So much of the music we make and love would be very different today if not for Steve Jobs."

 

More and more statements from tech giants, world leaders and celebrities pour to express sadness over the death of Jobs. Recently, Google included "Steve Jobs, 1955-2011" on its homepage. Dozens of YouTube videos also give tribute to him. Jobs left behind a wife, a son, and three daughters- to whom most of the messages are directed to.
