Why Are the Right Wedding Reception Venues So Important?

Why Are the Right Wedding Reception Venues So Important?

By Andrew Street

Anyone planning to get married anytime soon has plenty of details to sweat over, and the choice of reception venue is bound to be pretty high up on the list of issues which could make them suffer a little.

Why is this issue so important to so many couples that they are happy to spend ages looking and then book the perfect place well in advance to make sure that they don’t miss out on it? Isn’t it the case that any old hall with a dance floor and some tables could do the job?

Make Everyone Comfortable

Probably the most important point for most couples is to look at wedding reception venues where all of their guests will be comfortable. This is why a classy country house, hotel or castle is such as popular choice, as these tend to be seen as a neutral kind of venue which everyone is equally happy enjoying. You need to think about the people you are going to be inviting and what they would like but without forgetting that the bride and groom are the most important people during the whole day. If they are uneasy about the venue then this will shine through and it could put a real dampener on the whole event.

Get the Right Size

You want to see people enjoy themselves on the dance floor and mingle a bit, don’t you? Choosing wedding reception venues which are too big tends to lead to people rattling about the place aimlessly. A small reception hall will mean that a lot of the guests will spend much of the evening in their chair for lack of space to move around and dance. The size of the dance floor is also pretty crucial, as there will be a few aunts and uncles keen to show the young ones that the old dance routines are still the best.

Other Weddings

A lot of the most popular venues host two or more wedding parties on the same day. This is fine provided that the different parties are well separated if they want to be and that there is enough staff to go around without the service you are given being affected. In fact, a lot of your guests will be more than happy to mix with the guests from the other wedding receptions and enjoy a bigger occasion by bumping into old friends and meeting new ones too.

Take Great Pictures

We mentioned earlier classy wedding reception venues such as castles, and this is a good point to make a comparison with one of these and something like a dingy, local club. A very clever idea which a lot of couples use these days is to place some disposable cameras on the tables of their guests. If you are in a pretty spectacular setting then this will lead to some amazing pictures which will give you special memories of the day to look back on. On the other hand, if you go for a venue which has seen better days then the background to some of your wedding snaps is going to be a little bit gruesome.
