Work in Retirement: How Can You Make It Exciting and Profitable?

Work in Retirement: How Can You Make It Exciting and Profitable?

By Maya Tassy

Over the past 10 years, the word "retirement" has undergone tremendous changes. In the past, when thinking about retirement, one would dream about extended winter vacations basking in the Florida sun or spending entire days doing nothing else than playing golf. But the economic recession has had a negative impact on many pension plans and inflation has put a dent on social security benefits. How can seniors then continue to enjoy an exciting lifestyle when they retire? Many do not have any other choice than to continue working. Wouldn't be nice if the work involved gave us flexibility as well as good earning potential. In this article, I will discuss why network marketing is the ultimate choice for an online home business for seniors.

So the key question is how can you work part-time (if that's what you want) and still make a more than decent income while having a flexible schedule? My suggestion, and that of Robert Kiyosaki, the well-known best-selling author of the book Rich Dad, Poor Dad is to sign up with a network marketing company.

What is network marketing? A lot of companies, wanting to save millions of dollars in advertisement, prefer hiring independent distributors of their products. Because they don't have to pay benefits and their profits come from the efforts of their distributors, they offer fantastic compensation and training and support. Joining a network marketing company is like getting a "business in the box", you just have to follow the system and encourage people to join your team and do the same.

What are the benefits?

  • You set your own hours
  • You are your own boss
  • You work independently but you do have training and support.
  • You get advantageous tax breaks because it's a home business.
  • Your risk of failure is diminished because you just have to follow the system that is provided.

What are the disadvantages?

Honestly, I'm so "sold" on that type of home business that I can see only a few disadvantages.

  • Unless you are an experienced marketer or salesman/woman, you will have to learn and apply new skills in order to grow your business.
  • If you want to make money very quickly, that may not be realistic. But this depends on your skills level and the amount of time you are willing to put into your business.
  • If you are not highly motivated to work on your own and be responsible for your own income, you will not be able to overcome the frustrations that are inherent in growing a business.
  • If you are not interested in helping people, you will not be able to grow your team.
