10 Office Pranks To Confuse Your Less Tech Savvy Co-Workers

10 Office Pranks To Confuse Your Less Tech Savvy Co-Workers

By Adam Rogerson

  1. Flip their computer screen - Wait until your victim leaves the room, and then press the keys "Ctrl + Alt + Down Arrow". This will flip the screen upside down. Simply press "Ctrl + Alt + Up Arrow" to flip it back when they go to find IT help.

  2. Set High Contrast Mode - Nice and simple and similar to the one above. Press "Shift + Alt + PrintScreen" to activate high contrast. Could even be used in combination with a screen flip.

  3. Mess with their mouse - You can pick up a cheap wireless mouse and receiver off eBay. Simply plug the receiver into their computer, and give their mouse a wiggle every now and again. This works especially well if they do delicate tasks such as graphic design.

  4. Edit Their Wallpaper To Show Blank Icons - Take a screen-shot of their desktop with all the icons. Now set that screenshot as their new wallpaper. Hide their icons and watch them scratch their heads in amazement as their icons don't work anymore!

  5. Change The Language - As long as the Administrator hasn't blocked access, go to Start > Control Panel > Clock, Language and Region and then click Regional and Language Options. Click the Keyboards and Languages tab and change their language.

  6. Change Their E-Mail Signature - Somehow get into their e-mail software and change their signature. Something like "Please don't contact me again" or "Lots of love" should do the trick. Be creative!

  7. Change The Keyboard To Dvorak - This is similar to changing the language, but changes they keyboard settings rather than display. Go to Start > Control Panel > Clock, Language and Region > Change Keyboards. Click the add button, and add Dvorak (or another random or obscure layout) and set it as default.

  8. Add Random AutoCorrect To MS Word - Go to Options > Proofing > Autocorrect Options. In the replace text as you type area, get creative with some words. You can be subtle, and make a correct spelling change to a typo, or go all out and have it so their name changes to some complete random sentence!

  9. Set Up An Annoying Task - In task scheduler, you can set up some obscure tasks for the victim. You can open up a browser to a wacky website or open some other random application, get it to display a message or even send an email if you have the settings right. If you would be the prime suspect for a prank like this, wait until you're taking a holiday day, and set it up the day before. You can schedule it to open a website every 10 minutes for the whole day while your away.

  10. Set A Restart Shortcut - Select a frequently used app on the victim's computer. Internet Explorer is a good one. Find the shortcut they use to launch it and edit the properties. Change the target to "%windir%system32shutdown.exe -r -t 00". Every time they try to launch their browser, their computer will restart.

There you go! 10 pranks to liven up your day (or get you fired if you do it to the boss!). Feel free to get creative with these. If someone really deserves it, why not do all 10 when they are out on lunch!

The Key To Comedy

By Jerry P Corley

One of the most common questions I get as a stand up comedian, writer and now coach is: What is the key to comedy?
And although there are too many variables for me to even suggest that I have all the answers when it comes to comedy, I can give you the key. That's right I can give you the key to comedy.
The key is SURPRISE.
If we break comedy down; I mean, really break comedy down into parts, then we can start to design solutions. So let's do that briefly in this blog post.
I guess we can all agree that for comedy to be comedy, we need to get the audience to laugh, right? So that's our problem. We need to make people laugh.
So let's find a solution...
Somebody has to be laughing in order for someone to say that something is comedic or humorous. Now that we know that, we need to know what causes people to laugh.
According to several psychologists, the number one element that triggers human laughter is surprise.
Create surprise and do it well and the audience almost has no choice but to laugh.
Imagine that power as a comedian; to put the audience in the position where they have no choice but to laugh!
Now that we have that psychological element in place we are part of the way through solving our problem. The next question is how to we pull that trigger?
We create surprise in our writing or our dialogue, conversation, speech or script.
There are several ways to create surprise in comedy. I'm going to share with you the simplest and one of the most commonly used strategies to create surprise:

  • Double Entendre

Double Entendre means "two meanings." Those of us in comedy are blessed that the English language provides us with multiple meanings of words. We can use a word in a sentence to imply one meaning then use the comedic interpretation to create comedy. To look at it in its simplest form: if you have a friend that turns everything into a sexual connotation, then you've probably seen the double-entendre formula used in comedy. It could be used in scene writing too.
A basketball coach is at a press conference after his team lost in a blow out;
PRESS: Coach how do you feel about the execution of the offense?
COACH: I'm all for it.
In this example, the coach used the comedic interpretation of the word "execution." While the journalist meant how do you think the offense played? The coach went for the surprise meaning of "kill."
Because the expected of the word execution was so strong in the context in which it was being used, when the coach played the comedic meaning, he created a level of surprise that would lead just about any crowd to a laugh. Couple that with the fact that the losing coach is normally NOT in a good mood. He is not expected to be funny.
Surprise also occurs when something happens that is unexpected, right? So do or say something unexpected and you have an increased possibility of creating a laugh.
Here's another example of using surprise:
When I was in the grocery store, the check out girl said to me, "Did you find everything you were looking for?" The word "everything" really stood out for me. What did she mean when she said "everything?" Her intended meaning was probably did I find everything I was shopping for.
What is my comedic meaning of everything? The meaning of life, a soul-mate, eternal love, etc.
I went with that interpretation. So, when she asked "Did you find everything you were looking for?" I said, "Well I found the wine and the candles, but I couldn't find a soul-mate. You had Mahi-Mahi, but I'm not into twins."
That got big laugh with her.
Word play makes up the majority of all comedy out there. But the comedian has to be careful not to overuse it. It's easy to get "punny" if you use it incorrectly. And you'll wind up getting groans.
Then that key to comedy will just wind up breaking off in the lock.

7 of the Funniest Things People Have Insured

7 of the Funniest Things People Have Insured

By Vincent A Rogers

When you think of insurance what springs to mind? Insuring your car, home, pets, travel insurance or even your mobile phone? Sure these are all of your standard everyday things that you want, and in many cases need, to get insured, but it doesn’t end there. You can pretty much insure anything, depending if you can find an insurance company that will actually underwrite what it is that you want to insure.

I’m sure you’ve all heard of sportsmen and women getting their legs, feet, hands or arms insured for extortionate amounts, as well as singers getting their voice boxes insure in case anything happens to them. However, there really are some bizarre things that people have insured in the past. That’s why we’ve established a list of the 7 funniest things that people have insured. Funny, weird, bizarre, however you want to look at them, just take a look at what people have been paying protection on:

1.Alien Abduction

Straight in there with possibly the strangest insurance policy I think anyone can think of. A certain Captain Beaney decided to get himself insured against the threat of Alien Abduction in 2001. For a measly sum of £25 to £50 for the actually policy itself, the payout was well into its millions. We suspect though that small print would have stated the payout would be over the next couple of million years, this is outer space we’re talking about after all.

2.Death by Crab

The National Sealife Centre in Birmingham decided to take out a policy for its visitors against the threat of death and permanent disability caused by one of their attractions – the Japanese Giant Crab. The sum of the insurance was 1 million. We doubt there’s anything fishy going on here at all, it’s just better to make it a safer plaice – apologies for the fish puns.

3.Footballing Woes

In 2002 a diehard England football fan obtained an insurance policy protecting himself against severe physiological trauma as a result of England’s premature exist from the 2002 football World Cup held in Japan and South Korea. I’m sure there are plenty of football fans all over the world contemplating that policy right now as we speak.

4.Ghostly Goings-on

A hotel in Lowestoft, Suffolk called the Royal Falcon insured all of its staff and guests against death and disability caused by the resident poltergeist and other paranormal activity they had been experiencing. Despite the assurance of insurance, the next time you’re in Lowestoft I’m sure you’ll have second thoughts staying there.

5.It’s not a laughing matter

In 2001, comedian Rich Hall insured himself against permanent loss of humour. Now if you can find an insurer who will pay out the £1 million that Rich was insured for, we hope you won’t be joking. We like the way he was insured for permanent loss of humour as opposed to temporary loss; preventing any would-be comedian from seeking out payment if they had a bad gig or too. I’m sure the insurer wouldn’t be laughing.

6.Speech Loss Protection

James Whale is a well known British radio and television host and in 1998 he opted to insure his tongue for fear that he would lose his voice. The sum was for £1 million. Whale was known for his aggressive presenting style and would often hang up on callers that he disagreed with; we bet that any offended listeners wouldn’t care too much if his voice were to ever go.

7.Christmas Cover

Andrew Areoff managed to secure an insurance policy in 2001 against “naff Christmas presents”. His policy cost him all of £500, and can claim up to £1 million if necessary. That’s the last time his wife ever buys him the statutory Christmas jumper.

It's The Stupid Economy!

It's The Stupid Economy!

By Michael Hume

Demediacrats On The Economy: It's Stupid!

I'm really sick of all these right-wingers talking about the economy. Aren't you? I mean, when Bill Clinton was running for president, he was all like, "It's the economy, Stupid." That was his subtle, easy-going way of suggesting his opponent, George H.W. Bush, had perhaps failed to sufficiently focus on domestic issues. But that was SO twenty years ago!

Now, when such people as non-leftist reporters (both of them) and the attendees at the recent G-20 summit keep bringing up the economy, they're just trying to distract the president and his Demediacrat cheerleaders from the important things they need to focus on. Like getting re-elected. Like opening the door to blanket amnesty, covering up their gun-running scandal, and mentioning the academic theory of gay marriage. We want to talk about stuff like that! The economy? That's just stupid.

You're unemployed, and your family's lost at least forty percent of its wealth. Or you own a business, it's been two years since you paid yourself, and you're being taxed and regulated into oblivion. The national debt works out to $200,000 for every human in your household, and keeps going up. And you now have to choose between gas and groceries - you can't afford both. So what? Can't you see past your own petty needs, and grasp the bigger picture? Bitter clinger!

The president asked us to hire him, four years ago, promising a bright green future. Green energy. Green jobs. Green (with envy) Republicans. Put it all on green, he hollered! And he's helpfully gambled bazillions of your dollars on every "investment" that could pass itself off as obliquely-supportive of this whole green thing (provided that, in each case, the money ultimately went to bundlers in his party, of course). That might seem stupid to you, since if every alternative energy source could be maxed-out (I'm talking everything - solar panels, wind turbines, hamsters on treadmills, socks on carpet, livestock flatulence, and oil from vegetables, teenagers' faces, and old men's hair), the power harnessed would be enough (maybe) to run the average nephew's gaming console for 17 seconds.

But that's not the point. The point, of course, was to get the money spent! Duh! Until we get all your money spent, we'll never eradicate capitalism. We'll still be stuck in the failed policies of the past, under which nefarious characters could still work harder than you work, and therefore unfairly make more money than you make. Get the concept, and you'll realize the current government has the economy well under control. By which I mean, of course, that they've got YOU, and your mindless vote, under their control.

So stop bringing up the economy! It's a distraction. It's stupid! And if you want to help your government along on its hope-and-change mission, you will be, too. We're totally counting on it.

Read This Story - Then Weep for the Future of Civilization

Read This Story - Then Weep for the Future of Civilization

By Bill Schmalfeldt

Are you optimistic about the future of civilization? Stop it. By the time you're done with this story you will join those of us pessimists who pray that the Mayans were right about their 2012 prediction.

We present...

Another reason to weep for our nation.

Yahoo, the web portal that wishes it were Google, has come up with a web app that lets you know what the most popular headlines of the hour happen to be. By demographic.

The results? Depressing.

Let's start with my group. Males, 55 and older. These are the top headlines of the hour, as determined by Yahoo search algorithms.

Most Expensive Plane: B-2 Bomber costs more than the Space Shuttle

This is followed by:

2. Self guided bullet tested

3. Expensive retirement states

4. Pricey super car keeps stalling.

5. Player's rare scorpion kick.

So, with this to guide us, we know that men aged 55 and older are most interested in expensive airplanes, bullets, retirement, fancy cars and soccer.

How about the 55+ gals?

1. Prince Harry Dishes on the Real Queen, Phillip

2. Social Security Facts, Tricks

3. Expensive retirement states

4. Reese Dress Bucks a Trend

5. 14-Pound Baby Born

So, gals of a certain age get a kick out of royal gossip, social security, retirement, celebrities, and laughing at moms who had to suffer through the birth of a 14-lb. baby.

Take it down a notch? OK.

Men 45-54.

1. The most expensive airplane story.

2. Player's rare scorpion kick

3. Pricey super car keeps stalling

4. The self-guided bullet thing.

5. Pro Bowl QB rips teammates. (Turns out Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers actually wanted to win the game)

Except for the last story, pretty much the same as the older demo. Just in a different order.

The 45-54 ladies?

They loves them stories about 14-lb. babies!

1. Woman delivers nearly 14-lb. baby

2. Star's meltdown over visitor (Kristen Bell (who?) got all weepy when her boyfriend brought a sloth to her party. No. I'm serious.)

3. J. Lo grilled on divorce.

4. The Prince Harry/Queen story

5. Longest-married couple secrets.

OK. The ladies of in the onset of the golden years love stories about fat babies (delivered by younger women), gossip, gossip, gossip, and cute old couples.

Let's move to the next demo.

For men 35-44...

1. The soccer "scorpion kick" story.

2. The most expensive airplane

3. Brady impostor creates a stir (apparently, some idiot impersonated Tom Brady at Super Bowl media day)

4. Best dunk of the NBA season

5. The ever-popular self-guided bullet story.

So, men in their early middle ages like soccer, expensive planes, football weirdness, basketball and bullets.

The ladies?

1. Guess What! The 14-lb. baby wins again!

2. J. Lo grilled on divorce

3. Common myths about head lice (Did you know there were "myths" about head lice? I sure didn't.)

4. The celebrity getting weepy over the sloth

5. Save money on makeup.

So... women in the very late child-bearing years still love that some woman somewhere went through the agony of delivering a 14-lb. baby. They love gossip, stories about head lice (these women may still have kids in school, you know), gossip, and ways to save money while looking fabulous.

We're going for the younger group!

THE MONEY DEMO!

Men 25-34. What do they care about?

1. The stalling super car story.

2. The soccer scorpion kick.

3. Aaron Rodgers griping about the NFC's Pro Bowl effort

4. The Tom Brady Impostor

5. Orlando Magic players have had it up to HERE with the antics of Dwight Howard

(What? Nothing with boobies?) So, the older young guys like fast cars that don't work, soccer, sports gossip, sports gossip and sports gossip.

The women folk?

And the winner is...

1. The 14-lb. baby! (They could still have one themselves, you know.)

2. Saving money on makeup.

3. Whatsername's meltdown over the sloth.

4. Man shocked by his photo in an ad. (This is a good one. A chubby guy got $500 to have his photo taken for an ad about diabetes. They photo-shopped out his lower leg and gave him a pair of crutches. They basically turned him into an amputee. The takeaway from this? Read the fine print.)

5. Cute "Puppy Bowl" players.

So, women in the 25-34 group like the fat baby, saving money to look good, celebrity meltdowns, fat guys humiliated by ad agencies, and puppies.

Now, the youngest demo.

Men 18-24

1. The soccer scorpion kick.

2. The stalling super car

3. The self-guiding bullet.

4. The NBA gossip.

5. A new one. "Amazing Flying Figures". Ads to promote the movie "Chronicle."

You'll never guess what the 18-24 ladies liked best.

That's right!

1. The fat baby!

2. The longest married couple. ("Why can't YOU love me like that?)

3. Awwww. The cute puppies!

4. The story of a cancer survivor teenager suspended by his high school for growing his hair long to sell to a wig maker who provides the wigs to cancer patients.

5. Save money on makeup.

So, finally, we find a bit of interest in social justice, but not until we hit the female 18-24 demo.

Fat babies. Stalling super cars, Expensive planes. Celebrity gossip.

These are the things we are searching for, according to Yahoo.

Go ahead. Weep. Weep for your nation. Weep for your future.

COME ON, ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE!!!

Great Practical Jokes To Play On Your Friends

Great Practical Jokes To Play On Your Friends

By Gabriel Adams

Do you have a friend who just “needs” a practical joke played on them? Well, I might be able to help you. These are original jokes, meaning that they have been played on or by me or my friends.

Please do remember to be prudent and careful in playing these jokes on people, as you don't want to hurt anyone.

1 – The fish at the beach

I have discovered that some people have a revulsion to fish. I have also discovered that these people can also react very humorously to being confronted with a fish.

So, here's the deal – get a fish, complete with it's head. You can buy one at a seafood store. Wait until your friend is digging in the sand or reading a book. They key is to wait until they are focused on something with their head close to the sand.

Now is your time to strike. Take the fish and toss it right under their nose (don't say anything). Enjoy!

2 – The water bottle while camping

While camping is another great time to play practical jokes. This one is easy. While your friend is not watching, take their water bottle and put something nasty in it, like garlic powder. Then wait til they drink it for some hilarious results. Note: it's only fair to play this joke if you have water to replace the water you messed up. It's no fun to go hiking with no water.

3 – The rock while camping

This is a classic joke, but always good. While your buddy is occupied elsewhere, put a rock in the bottom of their pack. You won't get to see their reaction, but you'll probably hear from them when they get home and find that the hauled a rock down the mountain!

So be considerate, safe, and have fun!

Bigamist Begs For Life Imprisonment;seeks Escape From 40 Wives

Bigamist Begs For Life Imprisonment;seeks Escape From 40 Wives

By Tom Attea

As you have no doubt read, the country’s leading bigamist – distinguished title, eh? – was arrested in Las Vegas during a routine traffic stop. He had made it to the number one spot on the FBI’s list of top ten hits for marrying underage women to devout gentleman significantly older than themselves.

The much marrying minister, Warren Steed Jeffs, is the proud leader of a throwback known as the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It’s 10,000 or so members are convinced God speaks through Jeffs and refer to him as the "The Prophet."

The judge denied him bail, convinced he would go on the lam. The adjudicator noted, "These followers are committed to him because they view him as their religious leader, a 'prophet of God,' and are willing to do anything for him."

The devout Jeffs is hardly a thoroughly modern Mormon – if the foregoing is not too uncomfortable a juncture to stick together. While the followers of the prophet Mormon rejected polygamy over a hundred years ago, the dedicated disciple of Brigham Young – or bring ‘em old but bring ‘em any way you can – is said to have some 40 wives and 60 children.

So it is no wonder that at his arraignment, he did not contest extradition to Utah, where there is apparently ample evidence of his misdoings; the charge he will face is “rape by accomplice.”

In fact, he fell on his knees in court and pleaded, “Please, judge, lock me up. Save me! You have no idea what it’s like to have 40 wives and 60 children! Please, I beg you, put me in solitary confinement! And throw away the key! Not to keep me in there, but to keep my wives and children out.”

The judge, who apparently knows how demanding even just the usual one wife and two kids can be, listened with a watery eye, slammed his gavel, and said, “It’s Utah for you!”

So Jeffs will wend his newly solitary way, leaving behind thousands of followers who have, in duped devotion, been willing to hide and support him; the affidavit says he has, in fact, access to safe houses in Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Colorado, South Dakota, and Canada.

But apparently he feels safer in the hoosegow.

Immediately after his surprise arrest, laments by prematurely married women began to show up on his group’s Website, detailing the lives he condemned them to lead or risk “losing their own salvation.”

"He's not the sole supporter of polygamy," said Lori Chatwin, a Colorado City woman who was married off at age 17. "It's a religious belief."

Well, Lori, how can we say this kindly? Sad to say, if you believe stupid things, you're far more likely to end up with a stupid life.

Smart People Say Stupid Things Too!

By Gabriel Adams

Have you ever made a comment that was simply ridiculous, but you didn’t realize it until you saw the smiles on your friends faces? You may have been totally mortified afterwards, but the truth is everyone makes comments like that; even the smartest people in the world make dumb comments too. The best part is: the smarter they are, the harder you laugh.

My friend Jessie recently graduated from MIT and headed off to Princeton to get her PhD. A month after she moved in, she called me to ask if I thought she should call her super. Since she had moved in, she hadn’t had a hot shower because her water was only lukewarm. After a few minutes of questioning her about the problem, I asked if she had turned up the heat on her water heater. Her response was, “You can change the temperature?” Maybe I should have had her call the super; he would have had a good laugh.

My college roommate, Melissa, recently moved off to the east coast to go to a top medical school. Before she left, a bunch of us took a road trip out to Colorado. On the way through Western Nebraska, Melissa sat staring quietly out the window. After a while, she suddenly turned around and asked, “Are tumbleweeds real? I thought they were something movie directors made up for westerns.” Just remember that story the next time you’re at the doctor’s office.

Nowadays, the smarter people are, they more they seem to rely on technology. My friend Jon is the epitome of this stereotype; he just loves computers and other gadgets. That’s probably why he’s off studying at MIT. A few years ago, Jon and a few of his friends were visiting an army base. Jon insisted on using his GPS system to guide them on their way. As they were coming up to an intersection, Jon told the driver to turn left. The driver said they couldn’t do that. After a few moments of bickering back and forth about it, Jon started to get angry. He huffed “The GPS says we have to turn here!” The driver then said back “The big concrete barrier says we don’t!” During the whole argument, he hadn’t bothered to look up from his GPS screen.

So next time you’re totally embarrassed about saying or doing something stupid, just remember that you’re not alone.

Techniques on Painting and Some Tools You Will Need

Techniques on Painting and Some Tools You Will Need

By Julie Shoemaker

This article will cover techniques on painting and some of the various tools you can use to start painting right away with oils, acrylics or watercolors. If you go into an art supply store, you can quickly be overwhelmed at the seemingly limitless choices of paints, brushes, accessories, and canvases. Don't stress, though. You only need a few basics to get started.

What are the best choices for painting surfaces, and what about easels?

First of all, you don't need a fancy easel (which can cost up to $500 or more) in order to paint. You just need a basic sturdy easel for your canvas, either tabletop or freestanding. If you can't afford an easel, just place some plastic or newspaper on your kitchen table and paint right there! I do recommend using stretched canvas (canvas that has already been mounted on wood frames).

They are not horribly expensive and they are much easier to use; when you finish painting, you have a work of art you can pop into a frame and hang immediately. There are other canvases that seem attractive to new artists. These canvases are called canvas boards. If you use small ones, 11x14 or smaller, then I say go for it. But do not use larger ones! The reason is that they will warp over time. It's better to spend a few more dollars on stretched canvas and not have to worry about this problem.

What other supplies does a beginning artist need?

You'll need a basic set of brushes but not as many as you think. I recommend starting with something like a No. 10 bristle brush. Bristle brushes work well with acrylics on canvas. Unlike watercolor, acrylics are tough. The bristle brush holds up and allows you to maneuver the paint well. You can use this brush to make many different strokes. I also use a No. 4 script liner brush for fine details. You will also want a No. 4 round sable brush, a fan brush, and a No. 4 flat brush. These basic brushes are all you need to get started. You may also want a soft hake brush on hand for blending. Watercolor artist should invest in specific watercolor brushes.

Finally, you will want a palette. You can find very inexpensive palettes in the art supply store that are just flat, generic palettes. However, I suggest you invest in a sturdy air tight seal-able palette so that you don't struggle with your paints drying out too quickly. Here is a great little technique I use when working on small projects that don't require a lot of paint. You can always use a paper plate for your palette and store it in a gallon plastic storage bag.

So many choices in paint, what should you look for?

You may be tempted to buy student paints, because they are cheaper, but I recommend that you invest in artist-quality paint and buy fewer colors at first. The brilliance and depth of the color of artist quality paint is remarkable. The colors you will need depend on what your style is and what you are painting. Learning the technique of mixing your own colors will save you much time and money when it comes to buying too many or the wrong colors. The Fear and Art of Stand Up Comedy

The Fear and Art of Stand Up Comedy

By Alba F Lewis

The fear and art of stand up comedy and why you should do have a go.

Ever been to see a stand up show and had a hurt belly after? Every taken time to consider what goes into standing on a stage all by yourself with the sole aim to make people laugh? Ever thought it would be the scariest thing anyone could do? Ever thought you should have a go?

Most art forms of a high quality produce something that appears effortless and easy. Stand up comedy is no different. All great artists make things look easy, but like the great painters, the reality is the comedian/comedienne will have taken quite an internal journey to get themselves on to the stage and get their mouths to open.

And yet what is life if it's not to try things that scare us so much. What's the worst thing that can happen?

Many people have that list. You know the one where you list all the things you should do before you die. The bucket list. And on those lists are the usual: bungee jump, swim with dolphins, see the pyramids, learn to dive, jump out of plane, make love in the grand canyon. But few write on that list, stand on stage and see if you can make people laugh.

Why not? It's not nearly as dangerous as most of the things on the list. The worst might have been the throwing of the rotten tomatoes, but that went out back in the seventeenth century.

And yet people cringe at the idea of going on stage.

Which is why one autumn I started a twelve week course with a rather well known stand up comedy teacher which propelled me onto a stage in front of 300 people dong a three minute stand up skit.

It's the scariest thing I've ever done. It's the scariest thing that the other 12 people back stage have ever done. I know this because I watched how each person dealt with the stress. Some kept repeating their lines quietly, some simply rocked silently, another couldn't stop talking. I'd tell you what I was doing but my memory is a blank. The kind when you were younger and you got so drunk that only snippets flash back in your memory.

The key to stand up comedy is to talk about the world how you see it and then give it a twist. That means that though the stories are not always true, they are as close as can be to factual truth because a good stand up comic has to expose themselves otherwise they will not believed.

And you know what is really interesting? If you have ever laughed at anything, you have the capability to do a stand up - even if it's only three minutes.

So feel the fear and expose yourself. It's very cathartic. I recommend it.

I don't know if I will ever stand up on stage again. I kind of hope so. However it has propelled me into doing a weekly comedy podcast show http://www.the-brit-and-the-american.com. So as is true with everything in life it's all just one stepping stone nearer something else and you just have to take the next step.

What To Find On A Free Fake Doctor Excuse

What To Find On A Free Fake Doctor Excuse

By Scott Sims

When you are looking to get a free fake doctor excuse for any kind of needs that you might have you will need to take a number of things into consideration. You should be sure that these things are available on a free fake doctor excuse so that you can tell that he fake doctor’s sick note that you are using is one that is legitimate.

First you should see that the excuse has a proper address form on the top of the form. This is something that should be found on either the top left or the top center part because this is the area where most people will look at first when handling a form like this. The address information and contact info will be one of the most important things to handle here.

The address form should include all of the vital pieces of information that relate to medical notes. The data will involve a number of things including the name of the practitioner, the medical certifications that would go next to that person’s name, the address of the doctor’s office, the telephone and fax numbers of the doctor and any websites that the doctor has to that person’s name.

After this is done the excuse should feature information on the person who the excuse is for. The exact name of the person should be listed along with the date of birth and even the physical appointment date that the person would supposedly have on an excuse form.

A body of text that details what the excuse is for will also need to be listed. This is a body of text that will state when a person will not be able to come into work or school and also details on when that person is expected to come back to work or school.

The ending of the free fake doctor excuse should feature the proper closing. A fake signature will be required. This is a signature that can easily be edited in one of two ways. You can either work with a font that can be downloaded with a free fake sick note that can simulate the handwriting that your doctor might have. You can also write in your own signature or at least look into copying the signature of a doctor that you know of. As long as you make sure that handwriting is nothing like yours it will not be a problem. The name of the person and the office that the person works with will need to be typed up after that.

If you are going to be getting a free fake doctor excuse you should be sure that all of this data is listed on that excuse. A good excuse will help you to be able to get out of something but it will only be good enough if that free fake doctor’s excuse is one that is organized in the right way for your general needs. This is so it will be able to look accurate and authentic.

Tips For Structuring Your Comedy Routine

Tips For Structuring Your Comedy Routine

By Laura S James

What kind of routine you have during your comedy act will depend somewhat on the type of comedy you do. Naturally, you want to grab attention at the start, but then you also want to keep the attention through the body of your performance.

While you want to keep your audience interested, you don't want them to be laughing non-stop (not quite) because (a) while they are laughing they can't hear what you are saying, and (b) constant laughter tends to wear the audience out. So while you come on with a big splash to grab attention, you can sort of fade in and out a bit.

What this means is that once you have attention and laughter, then let the audience calm down a bit while you start to spin the next joke. This gives them a bit of breathing space - not too long mind, or you might lose them. Make sure that once you've delivered the punch line and everybody laughing that you give them time to get over that before you begin the next one. Otherwise they are going to miss the set up and miss the next punch line.

But you can't just stand there grinning like an idiot until they finish laughing. Instead, watch how some of the pros do it. Some give a little grin and cough discreetly. Others begin the next introduction and then stop, pause and repeat it. Yet other comedians might pull a face, or walk around the stage a bit, or pat their face with a handkerchief. It only takes a few moments to pull the attention back, but that time is vital to the success of the ensuing routine.

Create balance in your routine by doing jokes of different lengths alternately, such as short, long, short or long, short, long, etc. This also helps the audience. If you have all short jokes, it tends to wear the audience out more quickly. To go from a short to a long and back to a short evens it out and helps the audience to concentrate.

It's a bit like asking a person to read one long length of manuscript with no breaks in it. They'll get bored easily and skip half. You don't want your audience to start getting bored if you do three or four long jokes one after the other.

Once you've come to the end of your routine you should go out with a bang, That is, keep the best joke till last. It has to be the strongest line and the funniest-of-all joke. Never try out something for the end that you are not sure is funny.

Benefits of Reviewing and Editing Your Work

Every writer must review and edit their work and it is no different for a comedian who writes his own material. Reviewing your work will take out flaws, tighten it up and prevent your audience falling asleep from boredom. Editing will catch any mistakes before you go to air, as it were.

There should be two parts to your reviewing/editing process. Firstly, edit the written words, making sure the grammar is correct and the sequences logical. If your jokes are one-liners, ask yourself if they are too long or not clear enough. Will everyone know what you are talking about? What about the punch line? Can it be shorter? Is the major word right at the end?

If they are longer, story-type jokes, look at the introduction, the plot and the body, then at the ending. Does it all go in logical sequence? Can you tighten it up anywhere? Read it out loud to get the flow right. When you are satisfied that everything is as good as you can get it, act it out as if you were on stage. Sometimes when you need to match words to movements, either one could be too long for too short for the other.

Sometimes when you write your funny stuff, the best way is to just write it as it comes and pay no attention to quality. Forget spelling, grammar and everything else but just getting that stuff onto the page. Let it sit for a week without looking at it, then go back and reread it; if it still makes you laugh (or grin) then start editing it for the quality. Tighten it up, rearrange the sequence if you need to and generally make it more readable. Work on the punch lines to see if you can shorten them or make them stronger.

There are many things you can do to improve your writing. Take out adjectives and adverbs. Replace works ending 'ly' with something stronger. Go through it all with a fine-tooth comb until it shines.

For reviewing, you could get others to listen or read it and see if they think it's funny. If they don't, ask them why not and get specific reasons. It could be a wrong use of language; wording, concept or length - or maybe they just never see the funny side of life. Ask someone else. If they say the same thing, throw it out and start again. Some things are just not funny.

Funny Things to Say

Funny Things to Say

By Jon Saqarra

There are a lot of funny things to say, but somehow, kids say them the best. Kids are genuine and sincere and when they say something funny, many times it's not meant to get laughs, but it comes from an entirely new point of view and they are really serious when they're saying it.

Kids look at things with no reference points. In other words, everything they see or hear or say is for the first time. For instance, a mother and father were standing on the patio with their three-year-old daughter when it started to rain. The father, looking up at the gray clouds said, "It looks like it's going to rain cats and dogs." The little daughter slowly raised her head and looked up into the sky as if waiting for the first puppy and kitten to come down from the rain clouds. She looked at her mom, and then her dad and said, "Can we keep them?" She actually thought that hundreds of cats and dogs were going to rain from the sky, instead of what the phrase really meant: a lot of rain is going to fall.

The world is new to kids and so is everything they see. That's one of the reasons adults like to hang around with their kids; because the parents get to see the world from a whole new point of view. A point of view they have forgotten. (The other reason, of course, is that the parents love their children more than anything else in the world.)

Besides funny things to say, kids actually say some pretty interesting things. A mom and dad and their four year old daughter were sitting at the little girl's plastic play table having dinner, like they did every night, and the little girl says to them in a rather sad and serious tone, "Why am I so different?" The father didn't know what to say except, "You're not different." And the mother immediately jumped in with, "You're different because you are so smart and brilliant, and you are so beautiful and everyone loves you so much!" The mother just went on and on and on and it was truly amazing how she lovingly tried to make her daughter feel good about herself. After they all calmed down, the rest of the dinner was normal, but the parents were really bothered by what the daughter had said. "Where could she have gotten that idea," they thought.

The parents were stumped by their daughter's thinking of herself as different from everybody else. They just couldn't figure out why she felt that way. A few days later the three of them were watching a video that they had seen many times before. It was called "Tarzan," (the animated version). The family was enjoying the movie when the scene comes up where little Tarzan puts mud on his face trying to look like his adopted mother, the ape. It just doesn't work for him and he says, "Why am I so different?" in a sad and serious tone. The mother and father of the little girl, watching the film, look at each other with huge smiles on their faces as they realize that their beautiful little daughter always has wonderful and funny things to say.

Ideas to Brighten Up a Gloomy Hallway

Ideas to Brighten Up a Gloomy Hallway

By Stewart Wrighter

Hallways have always remained an essential part of any house. In the eighteenth century, there was a great focus on making hallways lavish and extravagant. For the plain reason that they give a comforting and cozy feel to guests. There cannot be any better welcome than this. However, in modern day housing, hallways have lost their importance. Even in a luxury home, you will find the hallways are really tiny. This is because in the luxury homes for sale, the dimensions for rooms are increased which really decreases space in the corridor. In any case, if a gloomy hallway is your problem, then all it needs is some slight modification.

You can try a number of modifications to add an inviting feel to your corridors. No matter how tiny, gloomy, or confined your hallway is, you can surely brighten it up with some innovative ideas. Here are some suggestions that might come in handy.

The first thing that needs to be considered is obviously the door. Although a dark colored door will look fabulous from the outside, it is not necessary to carry the same color in the interior part of the door. Try applying soft colors for the interior finish. Bright colors are light reflectors and improve the feel of the place.

A door that is primarily made of glass will be ideal in case your corridor is too confined. This will naturally brighten up your hallway during the daytime and you would not need to switch the lights on every time you enter it. Many people do not find glass to be secure. For all those who do not find it secure, they need to check out the laminated glass for sure. This glass is ideally designed to provide security. Moreover if you cannot tolerate any intrusions in your privacy, then you can opt for obscure glass designs. The best thing about these designs is that they allow light to pass, but are very difficult to look through. Besides this, you can even go for bevels that give off some fabulous colors in sunlight.

Next up is the paint of your corridor. For this one, an obviously bright color should be your first choice. But do not get shocked by the fact that many people paint their hallways dark. This further makes the place depressing and smaller. With a coat of bright colors, you can surely rejuvenate your hallways. What is more is that soft colors will reflect the light coming through glass panes. Plus, it makes the space look even bigger.

Lighting also has an important part in your hallways. Try scattering lights to brighten your corridors. They will bounce off from the walls and give a more natural look to the place.

To make your hallway roomy, reflection plays a greater part. Therefore, adding mirrors to the corridor will make the place look more spacious. Mirrors provide an additional depth to the place making it look even bigger.

So there you are, make a few improvements and see what a massive difference it makes to your hallway.

Humor and Funny One Line Jokes

Humor and Funny One Line Jokes

By David L Lloyd

Having been immersed in humorous prose of all kinds and funny one line jokes for so many years, I am now fairly certain that I can recognize humor when I see it without it having to leap up and bite me on the thigh, but I would not claim to know much more about it than that, except for the following brief points.

First of all, I would like to give a working definition of English humor: an odd, embarrassing or funny incident experienced or observed, and described later in a plain manner, which might or might not call for laughter. The English sense of humor is an agreeable mixture of a sense of fun and a sense of proportion, which is not at all the same thing as a taste for buffoonery. Perhaps a small axiom could be proposed: beware of people who only laugh at funny one line jokes.

A joke has a measurable potential of laughter; there are snigger-sized jokes, guffaw-sized jokes, and hearty laughter-sized jokes. Humor has no such limitations for example, might only give the reader quiet pleasure and on the other hand if it catches the reader off guard and in the right mood, its effect can be violent and prolonged, inducing, in my case, uncontrollable surges of laughter, hiccups, and a curious snoring noise in trying to regain breath.

Humor does not put a value on itself by announcing that it is going to make you laugh. To tell someone to stop being funny or hilarious is to dictate to them what their sense of humor should be, and a sense of humor is a most personal possession that should not to be tampered with. Any attempt to alter personal comedy results whether they are only funny one line jokes.. is wanting the owner to end the piece asap and is recommended less than hilarious and rather disappointing.

It took some twelve years to assemble a representative selection of five hundred years of humorous prose. What emerged from the vast amount of material collected was that pure English humor, besides being itself, also functioned over the centuries like good stock in cookery, enriching other kinds of comedy and giving them added flavor. Wit with humor proved to be more appreciated than wit being clever all by itself, satire expressed through humor, was found to be more widely effective, jokes built on humorous observation had a deeper appeal.

Comedy does not work in a vacuum either, its audience has to be in the right mood of expectancy and confidence, a mood which a comedian must create with his opening remarks. In literature, a humorous writer has to set the receptive mood he wants his reader to be in with his opening paragraphs so the quoted humorous pieces and funny one line jokes, are set within a commentary which introduces them by describing how the extracts came to be written, or why, with perhaps facts or anecdotes or gossip about the author, or what was going on at the time, the aim being to bring the reader up to the beginning of each piece in a good frame of mind to appreciate it.

Best Ways to Seem Popular When You Are Not

By Matthew Harp

Once upon a time you could add a lot of friends on Facebook to make yourself seem popular… But thanks to intense search engine optimization battles, you just look like a spammer. If you need some new strategies, here is a list of honest* classic tactics that will make you the talk of the town:

Make friends with people whose last names’ sound like first names

If making friends is hard for you, this is a great way to get more bang for you buck! Try to direct your friend building activities toward people named something along the lines of Joe Kyle, Richard Taylor, Michael Jordon, etc. Or even better, make friends with someone with three first-sounding names like Johnathan Taylor Thomas or James Cameron Michael. This way when speaking to others, you can say:

“James, Cameron, Michael, and I went to the mall yesterday!”

When in fact you and James Cameron Michael went to the mall yesterday. See! Three for the price of one!

Spy on others conversations

Listen in on popular peoples’ conversations and wait for something personal to be shared. Then say something like “hi” as you walk away. This is good for pretending you are really good friends with someone, as they like you enough to share their secrets. Doing this allows you to say:

“I was talking with Kathy earlier and she said that she might have to go to counseling for anorexia.”

Refer to coinciding events

Now lying about having friends you don’t have is not cool! But you don’t need to lie about having friends in order to talk about the friends you don’t have. Confused? Let me walk you through it… Go to a popular spot where a lot of the cool people hang out. Take note of who you see and something they did, like get drunk for example. Then repeat the same action they did. Then the next day when speaking to someone you want to impress, you can, in good conscious, say:

“Kathy and I were at Insert Bar Name Here last night and we got so wasted! It was awesome”

To add some extra kick, follow the cool person home and when they are getting out of their car, roll down your window and say something along the lines of “Oh wow, what a coincidence, I didn’t know you lived here…” Then you could make your story so much cooler by saying:

“Kathy and I were at Insert Bar Name Here last night and we got so wasted! It was awesome… Then we went back to her place and talked.”

Masterfully combine the prior three

Step 1: Listen to someone popular’s conversation and get some personal information and try to figure out where they will be that night. Step 2: Get your friend with two or three first names to go with you to where the popular person will be. Step 3: Make sure the popular person notices you at the bar and say a quick hello. Step 4: When you see the popular person leaving separate yourself from your three-first-named friend and leave also. Step 4: Follow the popular person home. Then you can say:

“I was talking to Lisa his afternoon and she said that she got a modeling contract with Ford! Can you believe that? Yeah, and then later that night Lisa, Michael, Taylor, Scott, and I went out to Q Bar to celebrate. Crazy, huh? But here’s the best part… Lisa and I talked at the bar and then we decided we wanted to ditch our friends and head back to her place. It wouldn’t be appropriate of me to comment much further than that… [wink]”

What’s dishonest about that???

Comedy Is More Than Funny One Line Jokes

Comedy Is More Than Funny One Line Jokes

By David L Lloyd

One of the difficulties when discussing things which make us laugh is that almost everyone uses the words comedy, wit, buffoonery, humor and so on more or less indiscriminately including funny one line jokes. This does not matter much in conversation because it is usually clear what the speaker usually means, but is does matter in a book or article like this in which the words are technical terms.

Comedy and jokes have a long tall history. The word was invented by the Greeks in 486 BC to describe a new kind of theatrical presentation which complemented their productions of tragedy. It was derived from the Greek word komos, a revel, and comedy was in essence.. everything that tragedy was not. Tragedy dealt in a bracing manner with the fall from power and eventual death of heroic figures and the inevitability of fate. More than funny one line jokes.

Comedy was light-hearted and filthy and dealt with the goings on of every day folk like corrupt religious leaders, golden hearted prostitutes, venal slaves, and bent magistrates. Aristotle summed it up as.. an imitation of men who are inferior but not altogether vicious. Tragedy was about heroes, gods, and unhappy endings. Comedy was about ordinary citizens and happy endings.

Philosophers, including Cicero, anxious to make this widely popular, pronounced that comedy was in fact much more meaningful than it seemed; that it had an equally important function to perform as the purifying catharsis of a good dose of tragedy. Ever since the plays of Aristophanes, they explained, the classical role of comedy had been... to correct the irrational and immoral conduct of the foolish, by pointing at them the finger of mockery.

The laughter and funny one line jokes this produced was supposed to ring hideously in the ears of the foolish who would cower back, whimpering, and mend their ways. The curious myth that comedy had creative powers was believed until well into the eighteenth century.

A weapon in the armory of this kind of comedy was satire, much used by the Greeks and Romans. Satire was a violent attack on somebody or something judged to be wicked or foolish using invective, parody, mockery, or anything else which might wound. In its pure form satire was not a comic at all but brilliantly horrific with funny one line jokes mixed in with the fun and games, it gave much of classical comedy its cutting edge. It is in this classical interpretation of the word that such works as Dante's The Divine Comedy and Robert Burton's Anatomy of Melancholy are classified as comedies.

After the introduction of printing to England, comedy of all kinds was widely disseminated in prose and the word comedy was no longer used, only in connection with plays and poems. Its usage broadened until it is now an imprecise, hold all term for any literary or dramatic piece which aims to amuse. Comedy is taken to consist largely of three elements, wit, buffoonery and humor for stories and funny one line jokes.

Coming Up With the Correct Answer to Just One Riddle

Coming Up With the Correct Answer to Just One Riddle

By Jason Bacot

If you have never tried to figure out any riddle answers previously, you just don't know what you're missing out on. They can be quite mind-boggling and complex at times, and in other instances they can be quite simple. It is the easy riddles that drive you crazy though. This happens when the answer is so obvious, but you just cannot loosen up your brain enough to figure out the answer.

The more you work on trying to come to understand these brain teasers, the better you will get at cracking their code. If you have never had the pleasure of attempting to figure them out before, there is certainly a method to their madness. What you have to do is, read each and every word in one of them very carefully.

This is not like reading an article or book; it requires a much more intense approach to reading. You have to read each and every word in the riddle, and ask yourself the following question? What was the author trying to accomplish with this riddle, and why did they use that word or phrase?

There is one thing that you can be certain of when it comes to riddles, which is that there never was one that has ever been created, that has wasted words in it. Each word is there for a reason, each word interacts with all the other words in such a way to try and throw you off track of the correct answer.

The very hard riddles are even worse; you can literally sit there for hours struggling to figure out why the person who created it used this word, instead of that one. Then, when you are finally at your breaking point and ready to give up, it hits you at last, and you get the riddles answered. When this happens it's not only a great feeling of relief, it also provides you with the confidence that you require to solve more of them in the future.

After you have been doing it a while, you will be able to answer most easy riddles relatively easily and quickly. But, when it comes to the tricky riddles, they are not so easy, and even the experts that have been doing this for a very long time struggle with them at times.

Someday they will create a contest for people that love to read them and try and figure out a riddle's answer. It might turn out to be a show like Jeopardy, or maybe more along the lines of a spelling bee. Whatever kind of competition that finally gets started, you can be sure that it will attract fans from all over the world that love trying to uncover their answers.
